Hello there,
I registered yesterday and waited for an activation email, user name HPsauce.
I wasn't sure if they were sent automatically or there was a moderation step so I've waited overnight. Apologies if I'm still expecting it too quickly.

I'm a PC support person and have my email on my own domain and manage spam filtering myself so I know (and I've checked) it's not trapped there (unless your sending from a seriously blacklisted source which hopefully you're not, as the hosting company can kill some of these).

I guess there's a small possibility I mistyped the email address so please resend and we'll see what transpires.

Many thanks,
HP

An admin will quickly send you another email activation, hopefully you will recieve this one, usually we advise that you check the spam folder but as you've obviosly done that the problem might lie elsewhere.
If you don't receive this one someone will check if your email address is the problem.

Activation email resent to registered address.

Thank you very much; nothing has arrived yet.
I've sent test emails through other accounts (e.g. Google mail) and they've been received OK and almost immediately on the email I "thought" I'd used.
Is there any way I can give you an alternative to try?

Two emails were sent.

Yes post another email address here and I will change it and resend.

Thanks, please try Removed I've just sent & received on that no problems.

Email address changed and resent :)

Thank you very much, that worked.

Hmmmmmm, I think I may have locked myself out again. Sorry to be such a pain.

I could see that you'd changed my contact email to the one I supplied here, so I changed it back to the one I prefer.
I'm now locked out again awaiting an email on that account, which I'm 100% sure I entered correctly this time, but no joy!

It looks like, for whatever reason, there's a problem sending from your domain to mine. Could you change it back to the one I told you here please and I'll leave it there for now.

Checking your email server (if I got it correctly) against blacklists it is on one, though not one I'm familiar with or know if my ISP checks against:
207.210.111.9 is listed in b.barracudacentral.org
And checking mine (which is a shared hosting one used by many domains):
89.238.132.210 is listed in dnsbl.sorbs.net

Sorry, not sure if my last post was received as the site went down, so apologies if this is a repeat....
Please could you do that again, i.e. change my email as earlier [Removed] and resend the email. :-worship
I foolishly tried to change my email back to my preferred one, not realising that it would lock me out and send another activation message that would not arrive, so I'm in a sort of catch-22 here.
At least I now know not to do it again. :-rofl2

Changed email back and resent activation codes. Please leave as be for now until our senior admin picks up this thread.

Will do, sorry to be such a nuisance when I haven't even contributed anything useful yet! :-worship

There's no point in changing the Email back to the original, as it will simply block any emails from us, hence why you didn't receive the activation Emails. Unfortunately because we are such a large forum, although we don't send out frequent mailings, many members subscribe to threads with instant email notifications and leave them running, but then rather than turning off the notification when they no longer wish to receive mail, they just mark it as spam and we get blacklisted.

Well, obviously now I won't. :-DOH2
But there seemed to be no obvious reason why the notification didn't arrive the first time, other than I'd perhaps entered my email address incorrectly, so it was worth a try.
I seem to get all other expected emails on that address, so it's a bit of a mystery, though I can understand why it's not anything you'd want to investigate.

On the contrary, we need to investigate, as it causes us problems, by way of threads like these.

OK, just ask and I'll do my best to assist; I'm not sure where to start though.

What I can say is that at one point I ended up on a web site link, reported my "lockout" and that DID result in an email from The Team @ satellites.co.uk which arrived in my "preferred" email inbox almost immediately.
It pointed me back here, hence possibly a duplication of messages.

I'll have a look at the headers on that message and see if I can see any significant difference to the activation messages that arrived in my "other" (current here) account.

The only obvious difference I can see is that the message that got through OK came from 207.210.111.5 which is not on any blacklist (ref anti-abuse.org) whereas the activation messages come from 207.210.111.9 which, as noted earlier, is listed in b.barracudacentral.org.

I've asked in my ISP's customer forums about this, no response yet.
