Hi friends ..
I've decided to subdtitute my old NEC positioner with an Echostar AD3000IP..
The NEC positioner is currently only used only to alter the elevation of my 1.8m prime focus dish at the extremes of the arc (c band only) ..
Of course ...this requires only manual adjustment ..
What Im wondering is ..
If I substitute the Echostar and not only connect the postioner ..but also a feed from the lnb to the digital input ..
_is_ this old receiver/positioner combo capable of 'autofocus' ..??
Assuming I set up a channel on a specific sat ...(in this case 55West) ...can the receiver sample that channel and tweak the positioner/12inch actuator elevation control for maximum signal..?? therefore removing the need for manual tweaking..??

I was given this old receiver as a gift about 2 years ago ...I know little or nothing about it ....and have never used it .
I have no user manual and know nothing about its abilities ..so any info regarding use with autofocus is welcomed.

Hi VS. I use my AD3000 as a positioner all the time for my dish moving. Unfortunately there's no autofocus facility as with the old Echostar analogue receivers. It's quite accurate though within a few counts to position the dish on a satellite at extreme arc positions providing your motor assembly doesn't have any unnecessary play.

I have a pdf of the manual somewhere in my files. If I find it I'll upload it.

Damned shame it doesn't have autofocus ...
I know very few receivers did ...but it would have been perfect in this particular application ..
Still ...I can at least set the elevation offset ..per Satellite ...and store them ..
Result ...
Not exactly what I was hoping ...but certainly better than my old stand-alone NEC positioner ..
