Adding a second Sky+ box

I have a Sky + and a multiroom old style box. Can I replace the old style with a second Sky+ box (primarily to use as a PVR for the kids and get them out of my room!), will the original card work in it, will it need connecting to a phone line. Many thanks
 
you will first of all need a second cable from quad lnb to original box, then when you connect your sky+box you will have to ring sky and tell them you have had a new sky+ box fitted and ask them to pair the card up to that box, and yes it will have to be connected to the phone line at all times
