It is being reported on another forum that an internal sky forum confirms hd multi room charge is being dropped.

"Making our HD pack even better value for money. Customers can benefit from incredible high definition on all the HD ready boxes in their home with only one HD pack, when they also take Multiroom "

It is expected to come in in September to coincide with other simplifications in Sky's charging structure.

I would go for Multiroom if that were the case. It was holding off as HD wasnt included on the 2nd box. This is a smart move I think

You wouldn't be able to do that in Naples as Multiroom requires all boxes to be connected to the phone line.

I have multi-room - it calls home over SIP.

Not a plug-in solution. Very interesting though.

What do you mean? It is a plug in solution. It simply uses an analogue telephone adapter connected to my router.

Surely you have to configure the router and you also have to have a UK based phone number allocated to the VOIP account?

I did not need to configure the router. Yes, the provider supplies a UK number that is the point.

How much does that cost? Is it a geographical number you get or an 0844/5 one? Not everyone would be willing to pay for that service of course.

You dont have to be in the UK to have a UK number ;). I use Sipgate (Free Geo Number) and Voipcheap for Free outgoing (With customisable CLID, to match the Sipgate number). Use an AVM Fritzbox as the router/SIP client with DECT handsets.

Sky box's work just fine on that.

As a matter of interest, can the CLID be customised to one of your own choosing, say an existing number in the UK, not a VOIP number?

It most certainly can. As long as you own the number, and can amswer if called. They call you with a computersised code, you wnter this on the site to authorise and prove the CLID you wisyh is yours. You cna have several loaded if you like
