Well, had to treat myself to one of these, with a Norsat 8115 C band LNB, will treat myselft to another Norsat C band soon. I have done a 'Frankenstien' mod as some guys in the US have done on there Bullesye to get a Universal LNB in the mix for Ku Band.

It is a superb preformer to get every last drop out of my 1.8...P1010001.webpP1010002.webpP1010003.webp

Great pictures and a very nice feed arrangement, that ADL unit is top quality, there are very few hobby DX'ers in the UK with a feed arrangement of that class.

A very nice setup / arrangement indeed .... Well done .
A good result re the MENA transponder.

Yep thought the same Nelson - especially when you look at the guidance footprint for roughly where Chris is located

It might have had a wobble, Stephen was reporting reception on a 1.2 in I think Bavaria yesterday too. Will check later to see if these are still receivable.

.. Just had a check on my 1.2 Gibby with the Octagon PLL Chris and no sign of sigs off the MENA beam. I have interference off 28.2°E & 23.5°E at around the MENA frequencies due to beamwidth of the Gibby. Iv'e got a Octagon PLL mated up to a Precision PF feed so will sling that on the 2.2 PF. it will be offset by a few deg but the narrow beamwidth of the 2.2 should help me a bit with the intereference.
** Also --- we are a lot further North than the Southern people Chris which does not help us much.

Did have a quick look this morn before work and it was a no signal then.....

Aye, us folk down Saaarf seem to have a slightly better chance with the MENA beam from the 26.0 East cluster.

I have attached two pictures below that shows the signal levels I got a month or two ago with a Precision 2.0m dish. The Badr-4 frequencies have been deleted from the table as they present no challenge to a UK DX'er.

If the MENA beam signals have increased in strength recently then I might try a repeat scan to see if I get any improvements on what I recorded a month or two ago?

MENA beam still coming in well on certain transponders still....P1010005.webpP1010006.webp

Another MENA off 26EP1010009.webp transponder receivable tonight, been a bit of Camal racing on....

Oooh, wonder if there was any punting on it?

@scopus

The frequencies you have picked up are on the MENA beam from Badr-6. If you are not getting anything from Badr-5, Badr-7 or Es'h-1 it might suggest that any signal level increase is confined to Badr-6?

MB, no nothing off the others, so you could be right with your theory...

... the Ku section of that Bullseye feed / dish / rx is really working well :Y .... I stuffed an Octagon pll up the spout of my 2.2 Cband throat and although i could see an improvement of the MENA signal levels i still couldn't get a lock - (didn't spend any time fine tuning the focal point though as it means raising the structure up and down)

Yer never know!

... Can you have a look at 11.941 V (26°E Badr 4) and tell me what you see and roughly what signal level

... Do believe so MB, up to 11.7 dB from 1.2 Gibby straight into Promax at the moment

Update re Badr-6 MENA Beam:

I re-scanned the Badr-6 MENA beam transponders today and obtained improved results compared to my scan of a few months ago. It certainly seems as though the signal level of the Badr-6 MENA beam has increased.

I managed to lock several transponders that I had previously failed to lock, notably 12456H, SR27500 and 12476H SR27500. For anyone in a UK location wishing to try to lock some of the frequencies from the MENA beam of Badr-6 it seems a good time to have a try, just in case the signal levels drop back from their current levels.

Attached below is a small table presenting the Badr-6 MENA beam scan results and a couple of channel pictures. The "Inv C120 Scan 2" column is today's scan result, the column to it's left is the previous scan of several months ago.
