Advice on setup

I'm moving away from sky (soon).

I have a Humax Freesat in bedroom and have been pleased with it, I am facing a battle at the moment.

For downstairs i was looking at the Fortec Passion with USB hard drive, one of the reasons is the wife has to have Living TV channel, we cannot get virgin cable here at all so thats a no no.

My thoughts are a Fortec passion receiver hooked up to a sky dish to get Astra, which (according to one list) has living tv on it.

Is this possible, or will I need another dish to get Astra, so i can get living tv, also, what happens to freesat, will this be lost when pointing at Astra.

Help would be appreciated

Astra 2A,B,C,D at 28.2E and Eurobird @28.5E can be considered to be co-located for all practical purposes in the UK, particularly using a "Sky" Dish.

The Free to Air Channels are exactly the same ones from exactly the same Transponder on exactly the same Satellite, regardless of whether you use a Sky Box, a Freesat Box or an FTA Receiver.

The only differences between these systems are the issue of whether or not the Channel has a formal EPG slot.

So any FTA Channel "on Sky", can be got on a Freesat Box - either in Freesat mode (what you normally see) or, if they haven't got a Freesat EPG slot, in "non-freesat" mode (In which the Freesat Box emulates an FTA Receiver).

So in deciding how many Boxes you want, and of what type, where the Dish is pointing is irrelevant (Same Channels etc ......) and all you need do is ensure your LNB has sufficient Outputs to feed all the tuners (one per non-PVR Box and two per PVR Box).

Don't forget that your Sky Box will still belong to you and can be used for all the FTA (and FTV, if you keep your old Card) Channels!

Finally, Living TV is only available with a Sky Sub ..................
 
if you want Living TV, you can't move from Sky though, as it is encrypted in Videoguard.

You will need a Sky subscription to get Living TV, it's not fta.

Ok, so ive got to pay £22 for living TV a month then.

No, only £17, for just the variety mix.
