Advice please - motor not moving

My Satellite Setup
motorised dm500s
My Location
uk
My motorised dish is currently pointing to 42E. When I change channel on the receiver to a different satellite, I hear the motor trying to drive the dish but the dish isnt turning.

Its a Manhattan HH100 mount and the receiver is a Force 516. The receiver and motor are almost 8 years old and have been working perfectly up to now.

Some things I have tried:
1) On the receiver motor menu I've told it to "go to zero" but the dish still hasn't moved.

2) I've powered it off overnight

3) Tried to move the motor using the receiver.

4) Factory reset of receiver

As I say, I hear the motor trying to drive the dish but the dish isnt turning.

Recently I have been using the Force receiver as a positioner and then using a manual switch to connect the motorised dish to a Dreambox 500s. The Dreambox 500 is setup for multiple fixed dishes.

How easy is it to change the settings on the Dreambox 500 to drive the dish (presuming the motor is ok).

I'm considering binning the Force receiver (and motor if required) so I would appreciate suggestions of what kit to get. This would allow me to leave the Dreambox 500s alone, keep it dedicated to a fixed single dish and move it from the lounge to the bedroom. I could then have a separate setup in the lounge for the motorised dish.

If I need to replace the receiver then I think it would be best to have a Linux OS on it.

I currently dont have a HD tv either !....I suspect this might get expensive !

Thanks !

Surely you first problem is the failed motor gearbox?

If it's a clone, then driving the motor maybe a non starter.
Sounds like the motor has failed.

Thankyou for the replies.

Is there any recommendation for a new motor?

I will firstly try it on the Dreambox 500s and if it wont drive it I will connect it to the Force receiver.

Thankyou

Technomate TM-2600 Super or New Horizons NH-210 motor; both very good.

1 thing i hate about disecq motors is that they rust like mad.

Each year I paint any rust with Kurust and then lightly grease all the bolts.

thanks for replies. ordered stab 100. plan to flog the force receiver and run the motor off a dreambox 500 with pli jade image. hopefully the usals setup goes ok

USALS as far as i know doesn't work with an Enigma 1 linux box :-DOH!

USALS has never worked on my DM7020Si or on any other Enigma 1 box i have had

They have all worked fine with DISEqC 1.2 though.

Its also worth noting as with what other users have said, running a motor with a DM500 clone is a non starter anyway as they just don't have the balls in the power supply department to move the dish :D

Even the genuine DM500 units suffered with this problem.

My TM2300 motor was made from an aluminum casting. Last time i looked aluminum didn't rust :D

The only thing that rusts is the bracket, but that's only if you don't grease the nuts and the places where the paint has been scraped off during setup. It only rusts if care hasn't been taken to ensure there is no exposed metal once setup of the dish is completed.

USALS does work with Enigma 1 receivers well it does with a spare TM500super i have and that's Enigma 1
