AHHHHH help given up motorised dish install need a pro :>)

Wife about to divorce me, about to throw dish across garden lol 2 whole days just cant get this set up working read plenty of forums and the guides but confused myself now.
Any installers near me in Gloucester just need the dish aliging to 1w thor or seeing what i have done wrong? everything is plum, can sort of find thor but cant get above 40% ish only 1 channel works speranta.tv after i do a channel scan but no other satellited line up ie 28.2. If i get 28.2 lined up all channels work but then none of the other satellites work lol

In some cases simple motor alignments need a complete re-install starting with the bracketry/masting.

Make sure:

# The brackets / mast are straight.
# You have set the motor inclination correctly.
# Placed the dish bracket centre on the motor shaft.
# Set the dish elevation to 28° for due South satellite, [although El markings are not that accurate].
# Inserted coordinates correctly into USALs.

Thanks all I will try day 3 tomorrow lol, my postcode is gl20ee i have set the motor to 52 latitude via the marks on the side.
The wall mount is def level
And the blade box is set to Latitude: 51.9n and Longitude: 2.2w
then i set the box to goto 1w thor (it says 0.8) then up on the roof and pointed it in the direction that the dish alignment site says. Just can get the signal strength to go any higher says low i have moved it in the smallest way left right up down etc loads of times i just decided to do a channel scan and thats when after about 78% into the scan it found 20 or so channels one of them being the one i said above that worked but no other satelites work it i try them after ...

Don't forget there are two scales on the motor, make sure you have set the 52° on the side marked latitude.

Assume you have no line of sight issues. Drive to 5W via USALs and try aligning on that.

Thanks again for advice, just to confirm with my location think i need to set the dark motor on the side latitude to elevation angle 38 and declination angle 7.5 as my latitude is 52 just read that bit in book so maybe this was a problem as i have the motor set to 52 elevation?. The 1.1m dish i should set to 28 degree's keep everything central pole dish mount motor etc. then set motor to 0 then move it through usuals on my receiver to 5w and then go up and move the dish around that is attached to the motor arm left and right to find a signal this is right as the motor arm is solid so I am moving the dish bracket around on the motor arm left and right? That sound right as day 3 hopefully is 3rd time lucky

No, once the dish is straight on the motor arm, leave it like that (as shown in the sticky guides), move the whole assembly on the mast left and right, adjusting the dish bracket upwards and downwards to correct the declination for receiving the strongest signal on 5W.

lol told you i need a pro i have been moving the dish mount around the motor arm scratching the c@ap out of it .... nightmare I am off to the flat roof to start again and this time i will move the whole mount around the wall mount pole . everything else sound correct set the dish to 28 degrees and the motor settings for my location?

Yes, Motor settings correct, dish bracket setting is only a starting point, dish face will be slightly off vertical pointing upwards.

No its me the guides are clear just i am stupid ..... ok i have done all the above still no joy but i am a bit stuck on this bit, on the motor i have set the elevation angle to the 38 degres as it states to do in the manual but it then says to set the declination angle to 7.5 where and what is that as on the motor there is nothing else to adjust only the arc of the motor east and west. i also have the dish angle set to 28 degrees
hopeing this is the last bit to figure then it will find 5w

sorry one more thing to check on my blade receiver i have set under usals motor setting antenna position 2.2w and 51.9n is that still correct or should that be matching the darkmotor setting which is now 38?

Usals settings are your latitude, and Longitude, which seem correct for Gloucester so leave them as they are.

The declination angle applies to the dish bracket as mentioned above, nothing to do with the motor. Don't get too involved with setting an exact angle on the dish bracket, as they are not particularly accurate. You need to move the whole assembly on the mast and adjust the elevation on the dish until you find 5W, using your receiver as a meter.

ok at last i have found atlantic bird 5w but very poor signal only found 32 tv stations one being Berbère however lightly i move the dish up down left right i cant improve it do you think the problem now will be the line of sight as there are houses/trees at bottom of garden maybe i could post a photo?

oh and the dish elevation was 15 degrees that ok? its finding stations on thor 1w as well 282 in total

If you scan the stored Satellite "Thor" (It's just a label and a data table, nothing more) with the dish aligned elsewhere, you'll get some results, owing to re-use of frequencies etc. across the arc.

List a handful of Channel names and we'll tell you where you are really pointing!

We really need some piccies to help us spot any howlers (and we've all made 'em).

damn thought i cracked it lol just did a channel search on what i think is thor 1 w 282 channels found lol some being btv-1, nrk1 tegnsprak,jurnal tv, eu tv, nit, ddtv, cctv news, gospel channel euro etc. I have taken photos as well maybe worth mounting it on my digital ariel pole so its up higher?
