Hello,

It is being tricky to find a good alignment for my new gibertini 1.25 with polar mount and actuator.

At one point, the dish was finding good signal in 0,8W, in 28,2E, and also in 12,5W. But then signal in 24,5W was rather poor and no signal at all in 30W. My old traix 110 with motor stab was able to find decent signal at the same time in all those satellites, so there should be signal out there, hopefully improved by the gibertini. What do you think the problem could be? Maybe the lnb position is not suitable for satellites in the west side (I am using my old twin invacom lnb 0,3 d:cool: when you dish is set up for the East? or maybe since the dish is quite powerful, it found good signal in 0,8W and 28,2E without being really pointing in the exact right direction?

Thanks

More than likely an alignment issue. You should have no problems getting all the satellites on the arc.

Several things to check. First is ensuring your inclination (north/south angle of the polar mount) is correct as well as declination of the dish.

The second is the east/west alignment of the polar mount on the pole.

Riverblue just posted what I was going to explain... so will leave it there :)

My angle is set to 30.8 as my location is 50.5. See the silver Sleave is where is set it to.

Then I moved the dish to exactly half way, used a compass to point South. Then I adjusted the dish face.

Thanks Chris, I do like the fine tuning on the 1.2, makes very small adjustments so much more accurate. How is the whole mount with the dish on, any flex or play in it?

The only problem I have ever had was in the high winds. And I didn't have enough weight on the bottom.

It's never let me down. Very rigid.

Nice little app that, I've got the Android version on my phone and used it as recently as yesterday to set up Mikes dish. Does need calibrating first though which can be a catch 22 unless you have a known vertical.

I agree the calibration can be a right pain. But once done it has been a life saver. :-)

Is it me or is the bottom adjustment bolt a bit bent on your dish Chris?

Untitled 2.png

It's not flexing under strain is it?

Nice neat job by the way. :)

Yes it is bent slightly. It's not flexing under strain. It was an accident last year.

Thanks. While I was outside taking the photos I noticed I need a slight adjustment on the azimuth. Something to do later on :-)

Just flip the phone or spirit level 180 degrees and see if it's the same but opposite error?
Can I ask what phone you have? The design of the iPhone makes it easy to balance on the edge but most Androids I have seen have rounded edges, cluttered or buttons sticking out.

I've got an aging HTC Sensation model, volume button on one side but the other is clean and straight.
