Aliminupg 5.2 connection problems

Hi

I bought the Echolink 888 a good while ago and am trying to update the sw.v software. I cant get the aliminupg 5.2 to communicate with it.

I have the com 1 port active for it, correct rates (115200) and parity (even) selected. It still comes back as "target in error or not connected".

Can you suggest what I might be doing wrong. Does the box have to be connected to the sat dish. I am trying to do it beside my pc and then re connect the box to the system after.

Hi daraman,
try: 1) your receiver is power off (not stand by)
2) null modem cable is verify (check continuity for 2-3, 3-2 and 5-5 welded pin).
3) if PC is laptop is it possible to run ali upgrader with XP (sometime pb vista)
4) pins on socket RS232 (on receiver) are ok or damage.
5) have you already try with other ali upgrader (aliminiupg4 i.e.)
6) you have about 8 sec between click connect and power on receiver.
