My Satellite Setup
Sony Bravia 40 inches model KLV-40V400A full HD, Samsung Digital Home Cinema System model HT-Z315, Dreambox HD 800, Nilesat, Hotbird, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, Aztech ADSL2+ Wireless router 1Mbps

I want to install a Dreambox 800 with motorised dish system. My aim is to get English movie, documentary and news channels like Animal planet, BBC prime etc.

However, im concerned that i will need to install multi-sat to be able to view channels i want and maintain the motors in our hot, dusty and humid weather in Dubai.

Prices here are rocketing. i tried to buy motors but i couldn't find any, so i guess i have to order online.

I'll be glad if you have any suggestions/recommendations.

Try a toroid, You can have up to (and some say even more) 30 LNB´s

I have a 90 cm with 5 lnb´s (worked fine but it is down now, due to some DIY on the roof)

i really don't grasp the multiple LNB idea.
 
It´s rather easy

You use a diseq, depending on how many L´NB´s You have

I have an 8 ports

You can have up to (and beyond) 8 LNB´s

The toroid is static, all You move is Your thumb - at the remote :)
 
Well, I personally would go for the motor option. SG 2100 motors are so cheap, I bought mine for about 40 Euros on ebay. Even if dust and sand etc kill it after 2, 3 years, it is still easier to work with as a setup with say 6, 7 LNB's. As each cheap LNB costs around 15 Euros, and they don't live forever as well - you would also need the Diseqc s cables etc...it is very convenient as switching satellites is faster, but I never find it too disturbing.

At the end of the day it is a personal choice, everyone has his preferences... :)

What I meant is that static toroid dish and multiple LNB option would limit me to adjacent satellites. If I want to receive variety of channels on relatively far satellites I would need to point the dish not only LNBs to different directions and I might need different satellite dish size.

If this is the case then I guess it might be a better idea to have two motorized dishes to achieve my goal.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken and thanks for your comments.
