I used to have a freeview digibox which had it own in-built PVR.
However, I have now moved to an area which has no digital signal (so the digibox is back in the box)

I was thinking of installing a satellite receiver system instead, however I would also like the ability to be able to easily record as I could previously.
I mainly want to be able to receive the same free channels as I could previously...any other channels would be a bonus.

What would people recommend that I need to get?

(also, the discussions on patching look interesting, so I would like equipment that would enable me to experiment with that in the future)

A dreambox with hard drive would probably fit the bill, as you can use a freesat card in them to get the Freesat channels which are not free to air, channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky 3.

as rolfw as said, I use a dreambox with a 160gb hard drive, and use it the same as sky+ pause live tv etc.

Ive also got it connected to my Kenwood amp and play all the mp3`s thats on the HD. Its Like a juke box;)

Its also patchable with the various EMU`s (internal cam)

Thanks for the replies.
I was looking at technical specs for Dreamboxes, but not sure exactly which one I would need. My requirements would be;
- Need to be able to add a Hard Drive
- Need to be able to Pause / Rewind live TV
- Need to be able to operate a motorised dish

I see that there are quite a range of Dreamboxes at different prices.
What are the advantages of the higher end ones?

Thanks

Not all will take a hard drive, but you can network them to your PC hard drive. All of the 7xxx series can take a drive and there is I believe a 5xx series which can now take a drive, they can all control DiseqC motors, or 36v using a V-box.

Given access to a hard drive, they can all pause and rewind live TV.
