Spacecom goes back to Space X
In a statement to the Israeli stock exchange, the operator said it intended to use Elon Musk’s company for a launch in 2019. A further outing is possible in 2020
The first satellite to go will be Amos 17, being built by Boeing Satellite Systems International, to replace ISS-Reshetnev’s Amos-5 craft. An electrical fault caused Amos-5 to fail in 2015 just four years into its life.
Next in line will be the replacement for Amos-6, Amos-8, that is slated for a 2020 launch.
AsiaSat has been providing cover at 4 degrees West with the co-location of AsiaSat 8 with AMOS-3 covering the Middle East, Central Eastern Europe and Africa
