An easy splitting question...help please!

Hi,

Thanks for looking. I imagine this is an easy question for ppl on here! (I don't understand fully how these things work)

If you have a look at the simple diagram I did (attached) that explains a lot. I'm wondering if I can split the cable, put in a 2-way splitter and run a cable straight (well, with a magic eye) into a tv in another room to share the signal. Will this work using a 2-way splitter or do I need something else?

It seems logical to me! I have reduced mobility and the cables are difficult to get to so I want to limit my trips up and down to the attic.

Doesnt work like that - the magic eye operates off the rf2 output on the back of the receiver. If you want to watch the same programmes at the same time in room 2 as in room 1 then just run an rf cable into room 2 from the back of the receiver and connect the magic eye if you want to change channels in room 2.

If you want to watch different channels in both rooms at the same time you need a second satellite box and a new cable run to the dish with a multiple (quad) outlet lnb on the dish.

I should have mentioned, I already have another TV connected to the rf2 output. :-DOH2 (we'll call that room 3!) Could I split the rf2 output?

I'm not pushed about having the magic eye in room 2 as the rooms are next to each other, will I still get a signal to room 2 if I do it as per my diagram (using a splitter) and change the channel in room 1?

yes you can split the rf outputs, shouldnt give you much trouble as long as the cable runs are not too long.
 
you can use a simple splitter from triax that will take your power throughput + signal, very cheap at around £3.00

alternatively if you want more rooms and amplification try a global amp

you can purchase these at any respectable sat tv shop
 
Hi again,

I think I may have failed to ask a fairly important question about this...do I need to have a sky box in room 2 to pick up a signal? (Take a look at my diagram in my first post and ignore the magic eye in the diagram) or can I get a signal from the splitter and go directly into the "aerial in" on the tv in room 2?

I'm doing this at the moment, there are so many variations, there are 3 cables coming from the dish (I don't know which cables are which) so im up and down from he attic trying to tune in each variation! that why im wondering if i'm wasting my time! luckly there is a coupling on each cable.

Please help! Thanks!

PS should I be tuning in each time or should it be through a AV input (im so useless at this)
