Hi,
I live in an area where theres a big train embankment at the end of the garden. Unfortunatly, that means I miss out on Channel 4,Channel 5 and a few others. Im not too keen in the freeview gizmos, but I was wondering would a satellite dish pick up all the bog standard channels like BBC 1 , BBC2 etc and the local ones aswell as a few others such as BBC news or somthing.
If this is possible what gear am I going to be needing and how much am i going to be looking at roughly?
If it helps my region is South Glamorgan, Wales

Many Thanks,
Matt Seymour

Go to www.freesatfromsky.com and sign up for the freesat option. 150 quid will see it all set up & installed for you. You get all the BBC channels, ITV 1 / 2 / 3 the forthcoming ITV4, C4 / C5 and 150 religious and shopping channels.

Or if your profile is correct and you already have a Sky install, get a local independant company to come and relocate your dish.if you arent getting the BBC ITV etc you are mising Astra 2D which normally means the dish isnt aligned properly.

Sky install is working fine I get all the channels on there, but im on about a seperate Tv in my room which is linked to an analogue aerial which only picks up BBC1, BBC2 , Itv and S4c. Sorry for not being specific enough,

Got you. Replace the lnb (the bit on the end of the arm) with a quad, (4 outputs) and run a new cable to the room you want. Buy a secondhand digibox and a 20 quid freesat card (from the web address above) to give you ITV1 ITV2 C4 & C5. The BBC channels will work without any card

Do i really need a card? Because channel four and five and a few others can be can be picked up in other nearby areas.

Via satellite yes. They are scrambled signals.

Fair enough, Just took a look at the dish and its already a quad, so thats going to save a bit of cash. Just a card , box and cable is all i need now :)
Many thanks,
Matt
