Analogue feeds?

I wonder if any satellites broadcast any feeds in analogue these days? I know that no satellite publicises that they broadcast any feeds in analogue but do any sats carry "hidden" analogue feeds, particularly feeds destined for the US? What got me thinking of this was someone in Afghanistan who, on YouTube, has shown how he received an analogue feed from 74W on a 1.2M dish, albeit very sparkly and with barely discernible audio.

These are the videos:

Aren't those channels though? I know there's around 40 analogue channels on 19.2E, a couple on 13E and a small handful of French channels on 5W but I meant feeds as in feeds for broadcasters rather than channels.

I might be wrong.. but I've got a funny feeling that the French channels on 5w analogue are used like feeds/PowerVu channels - for cable head ends/etc...

But I could be very easily wrong... !!!

And you are right, there are no feeds on 19.2e...

no they are open the only encrypted signal is canal + on 5w which is analogue, and dvmedia how old are you ?

Not quite true, most modern TVs are multi-standard these days, so they can happily play back PAL, SECAM & NTSC, it's only if you have a really old TV that you'll get a black & white image on a PAL TV... :)

And an analogue box isn't fussed what it's encoded in though... :)

Analogue feeds are surprisingly common on US satellites still. I do not know why they do not use digital. Check out the "backhaul" Yahoo group. A recent post-

"BA: Spurs @ Warriors - Analog C-band

More on the feeds on 74 West here-
