analogue I/P with digital RX

hi 2old....I've a chum with a pace 508. I've convinced him to get out of analogue and swap over to digital. If he was to buy say a humax for example, would it be possible to use his 508 as the digital Rx's positioner thereby saving him a few quid....regards.geo

Yes, he could use the 508 to locate the satelliite and then switch to the Humax using (eg) a Global Smart Priority Switch.

But if his budget stretches it would be a lot easier to install either a DiSEqC motor and use a digital receiver with DiSEqC v1.2 , or else a receiver with a normal positioner (such as various Echostar models). That way, the positioning is automatic (ie - the dish is moved in response to selecting a channel, and not as a separate step).
