Hello out there. I have 7000, internet and network and three kids...
Gemini 2.2, Norwegian and legal cards to Viasat and Canal Digital (Sirius and Thor). But, can anyone please point out to me how I get the 7000/gemini to read my Cards? Can it also read cards - and if it's not correct - use key's.
And how do you know what cam to use - where? Is it a secret?

Best you do a heap of reading here - it isn't a quick one to answer.

A good base image on your box like Gemini or SDT DaVinci (or both preferably) and a good card supporting emu like NewcamD will allow you to use the existing slots without too much bother. You can then supplement your legit viewing with some keys for other birds/bouquets.

And yes, it IS a secret, but you seem like a nice chap, so we'll let you join the secret club :D

I dont use cards in my box, 1st how did you install newcamd , Did you config it and did you reboot your box.

I installed it by downloading it directly from and to my DB. I did not change any configuration.
Yes, I've rebooted several times

Go back into add ons and into cam config. find newcamd and ok it to download. Reboot box and try again. Brass contacts on card down & try both slots.
Thats all I can suggest.
 
Another thing you can try. Make sure your running newcamd. Hit blue button, make sure your not running the CI. Move the highlighter down to newcamd and ok it. You should get a message saying newcamd is starting.
 
OK - latest facts
With NewcamD it reads the Canal Digital card i the lowest slot. If I move the Canal Digital card to the upper slot, I get nothing.
But, if I put the Viasat card in the buttom slot, I dont get Viasat Channels.....
And, Yes, I'm shure I use NewcamD and not CI.

Does anybody have an advise?

Yes, one more thing - I also have a another DB7000, so if anyone have a solution if I use 2xDB7000.....

Stop all newcamd daemons and start them manually one by one from the terminal window. It will tell you what is not going right, either configuration or timing issue- you may need to give daemons more time to start in the script. Stopwatch comes handy!
 
You need to configure the NewcamD and cardserver/betad config files to activate whichever slots you need (and more). Read the Readme files contained in the distro and all will become clear.

I tried to configure those files, but it did'nt help. I don't know anyhthing about this, but the readme file stated "Viasat SND" card. Is this the type of Viasat card that we have in the Nordic countries? I don't know......

A telnet window. On your PC open a command prompt (start > run > cmd) and then type telnet and your dreambox IP. or in the command window type telnet /? for the help file.
