Following on from the other thread, i thought i'd ask others here were they bought their channel master 1.2 from?

I know of 2 places that sell in the uk, but being a tight arse i never like paying more than i should.

So wheres good for the 1.2 and polar mount?

Thanks

PJ

There is a member on here Rd-100, who has a trade account with Andrews. I have not seen him on line the last few weeks.

Maybe he could do you a deal. One thing, Andrews have stopped producing the polar mounts for the 1.2 and 1.8 meter dishes.

But there`s probably stock laying about.

Im here:-HoHo :-HoHo LOL

I can the andrews dishes new but they have stoped makeing the polar mount for them so you would have to get a used one off ebay etc or uses a h-h mount,

Or keep a look out on ebay for a dish and mount can be brought for pennys on there,

Got my eye on the ebay one, just have to see how much it goes for.

I'm in no rush, weathers too bad to be getting up the scaffolding again.

Hopefully pick it up this weekend, but i doubt it'll be up till the weather warms up. (although the scaffolding is still up atm)

To put the 1.2m up i'm going to have to strengthen the mounts up somewhat and probably find a 3.5m 3" pole or failing that a 2" to 3" convertor pole.

I take it the CM polar mounts are 3" only?

Picked the dish up today to find that it didn't fit inside the car as hoped.

Not wanting to do the 100m trip each way again we fashioned it to the roof of the car and drove very slowely all the way home.

btw OMG the dish is huge!!!

lmao, looked abit like mine only i had 3 strand rope on until i could find the nearest b&q. (on a side note tom tom and POI is a god send)

No roof rack but seller had a box which kept it off the roof, stopped at nearest b&q for those ratchet things. couldn't open the drivers door as the ratchet had to go through the window.

Wouldn't do it again, but serves me right for not measuring it.

The echostar sr-8700 is one big beast that came with it. It's also using an 18" actuator. Do these break? Would it be worth replacing before i put it up?

No feedhorn so not sure if i'll get one as i've just bought a new twin invacom 0.3 for the original dish so don't fancy splashing out on a c120.

The polar mount is substantial, it's no wonder these things don't move once up. just wish i'd done this earlier.

lol wel you got it back in one piece thats the main thing!

actuators do break, normaly its the reed switch that go.

why dont you connect it up to the echostar, you dont have to attache it to the dish to see if it works.

That Echostar'll move that dish, no problem. Plenty of oomph in that one. Mine's still working fine after over 15 years :-Cgrin

Well i'll order in some motor cable and test out the actuator first. If it doesn't work then there not too expensive to replace.

Feedhorn or not really is the question? There was a thread regarding this but no decisive outcome came of it.

I think the echostar will probably do to move the dish rather than spending yet again on a vbox 2.

Just glad it's home, going over the pennines(sp) with that thing was scarey.
