I have two apps with short passages of music within them that I would like to transfer into a PC folder to listen to.

Whilst I can cast - unreliably - from the mobile to the main TV and from the phono outputs to the DVR to burn to disc, is there a more direct way of extracting the files direct through the USB cable onto the laptop ?

Thanks in Advance

It all depends what you can see when you connect to PC/Laptop via USB, whether it is rooted or not. A lot of phones you can see media content direct. Alternatively you could move the app to SD card from phone memory, demount the micro/mini SD card, power the phone down and then put Card in a reader, connect reader to laptop and then search for media files

I have a 32GB SD card in my phone and I have moved all the apps that I could to the card in order to free up the on-board memory for those apps that can only live on the phone itself.

So it depends on what the app is and how it got on to your phone. WhatsApp, for instance, stores everything on my SD card and I would suppose that many other apps will be the same. As Topper says, take the card out of the phone and put it in a card reader on your computer for full control over what you can see.

Thanks

I can see many folders which are related to apps within the mobile (under phone > Android > Data), but the two of interest are not in there.

Where else should I be looking ?

Only images from the camera are stored in the SD card I installed in the mobile late last year.

I can see two WhatsApp folders in the main category already searched, databases and media, so I assume this is not contained anywhere else.

Would there be something in the Sim card that I cannot access ?

With WhatsApp there's a folder for that and inside that many others. From memory there's one called downloads but really it's just a matter of looking everywhere.

The tracks may be on your phone of course. In which case I guess you'd need to use something like ES File Explorer to look around. I don't find it particularly easy to use though.

Just checking. You have downloaded these and are not streaming them?

There won't be any music on the SIM card. There's not enough room.

In flight mode the files can still be accessed/played so I doubt it.

What I could do I suppose is install same onto the IPad and check there.

edit - Not released on iOS, or was only short lived

Just a thought, you could see if Dropbox will upload it to its cloud server, and install the pc prog, and you may be able to play the music on the pc.

That seems to be a game according to several Google results.

They are both games, I would like to extract the audio tracks from them in their original incarnation if possible.

If the phone has root access you could try browsing the apps folder, the data folder and the cache folder from a windowz PC Droid Explorer - Home

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Just a random thought, maybe google the app name and "music track info" and see what that throws up? Could be something freely available to download... :)

Ah, I see. Can only suggest you go through every folder looking for some recognisable audio file suffix and see if it plays as what you want.
