So went to my parents today to find that I am getting very iffy signal from 26E on Badr-4 from my 1.2m Fibo. By iffy, I mean the signal keeps jumping from no lock to 10dB. I get the same effect on 31.5E and 36E.

Looks like there's a pine tree that grew in size since last year and is wafting in the wind, disturbing signal. Only going to get worse now. Hope someone will trim it, or chop it down completely...

Just had a few more Trees cut down in my arc, leaving only one: Trouble is, the remaining offender belongs to a different neighbour and is unlikely to be removed any time soon.

But I do now have scope for a full re-jig of my farm (If and when I can be bothered!)

Having established that the wind has moved my dish and motor slightly and loosened one of the bolts, I noticed that some of the trees have grown more than I expected.

Its a real pain because I have to raise the dish a bit which means more wind exposure and possibly another K bracket to keep the pole rigid.

The tree growth is also why the big 2m dish is not up, to clear the trees would mean putting it in a place where I am told it would be completly antisocial.

At my parents place in Helsinki I used to have a good view down to 35E-45W but these days the neighbour's trees have grown so tall that the view is now restricted to 35E-5E in the summer with leaves and about 35E-10W in the winter and it's getting worse. Canal Digital doesn't work in the summer and of course 27.5W would have been nice for them too... (used to use 27.5W way back in the early 90's for BBC Prime, Discovery, Wire TV, BFBS Radio, Supergold etc)

A quick fix for someone else's tree's.

On a dark moonless night, dark clothing, blacked out face, and a few nicely sanded 2" copper nails or copper slugs will do a nice job on the trees in a few months.
