Hi,
Well, I'm not a complete newbie.
Back in the 80's I had a motorised 1.2m channel master and a chapparal monterey.
A south facing wall gave me access from horizon to horizon.

My present location gives me about 30 degrees either side of south ( tree obrstructions ).

So I need help planning out a full system.
My philosophy is to get the best around, buy cheap buy twice as my dad would say.

We have 4 Sony fst televisions, and want to be able to watch different channels on them.
I was thinking I would have to put the receiver in the loft and use magic eyes to change channels.
I am not bothered about Sky at present, but maybe in the future.
The dreambox has caught my eye, so maybe that's a start.
I had a prime focus dish before but that would fill with snow, is that why the offset dish is more common.?
So,
what are your suggestions.?
Can someone list all the hardware needed to achieve this please.?

thanks
Howard

If you want to watch different channels at the same time in the 4 locations (eg for all the family) then you need 4 receivers. No way around this.

You need to decide what you want to watch.

UK channels?
Foreign TV - if so what languages?
Sport?
3pm football kickoffs?
Hard core p*rn?
HD?

Then decide of you want pay channels or free only - and which locations.

Then how many locations are going to be used at the same time?

Etc etc

You will need 4 receivers if you want to watch different channels.

Also if you fit a motorised dish, all 4 receivers will all have to watch from the same satellite.

If thats ok, why not get another 1.2m channel master and polar mount.

Only one receiver would be able to control the motor directly. However Dreamboxes do have a web interface, or possible remote control extenders could be used.

Oh yes - are you going to want to watch different channels from different orbital slots at the same time? eg do the kids want to watch the BBC whilst you watch Italian tv. If so its going to get very complicated very fast!

Thanks,
I used to watch the Italians a lot for their motor racing slots.
Not into football at all.
I don't expect to watch different satellites at the same time, but I would want to control the dish from any room.
Any suggestions where there might be a block diagram of a typical multi satelite multi receiver setup.?

thx
Howard

Typically, people would not use a motorised dish for multiroom, because of the difficulty of controlling the dish from every room and having to all be on the same satellite.

Multi-LNB/multi-dish setups are more suitable for this purpose.

I've not seen a block diagram.
