Hi,

I'm trying to gather some information regarding diseqc 10in1 switches. I'm going to buy one of these:

_http://www.electronic-trade.de/diseqc-schalter/diseqc-schalter-x1/diseqc-schalter-101.html

I don't read german and online translators only help a bit. Does someone have one of these and can share a thought about it?
It seems that this "thing" works in diferent modes. Does someone knows how can one change between those modes? I've read about some kind of programer to choose wich mode you need but online shops that I've seen don't mention any programer.

I did not include the correct link because I thought it was against forum rules. Maybe I need to read them again. Anyway, on the link provided just replace htp for http.

It works for me.

I tried to see the make (manufacturer's) name for this part.
As a rule, I would never buy any part without knowing the original mfg name.
Try to find out this and then go to the MFG website and hopefully you would get the spec in English.
Did you check the shipping cost from Germany to your location?
From another German website, they insists on sending orders via courier, costing more than the parts.

The brand name on the photo is "Best".

_http://best-de.tv/en/21/97.htm

Also sold under "satconn".

Here is a Pdf datasheet in German

_http://www.satshop24.de/Anasat.pdf

According to that, the programmer goes inline with the switch to set the mode, with one of the buttons 1-6. Or you can order the switch already programmed into a set mode, to save buying the programmer.

It is made by Satconn.
It is versatile because programmable in many different modes.
But I prefer a switch that is diseqc 2.1 capable. Like the EMP P.168 W uncommitted switch.
When combined with 8 committed switches (disecq 4x1) one can accomodate 32 satellite inputs.

I have a feeling that it is made by B.E.S.T, since they have their own decent website with partners link.
The other brands are just to confuse the potential buyer to think it is another product.

What advantage does DiSEqC 2.1 give you over 1.1?

This 10/1 switch can do 40 sats.:-nutkick

@Dish,
I think B.E.S.T, may just be the wholesalers for this product.

For more than 10 years our company is your competent Wholesale for satellite technology and - accessories

I read this also but it might just be a bad translation from German to English.
Many of the other products photos show their name (logo?).
For all we know, the parts could be produced in the far east but it is the original designing company that I usually seek.
Anyway, it isn't really that important now since the aim was to help the original poster to have the best information possible.

Dish,
Well, I think his original questions have been answered, so you are right. Hopefully OP will go buy one and let us know how he gets on with it. The price is not exactly prohibitive is it. Maybe I'll buy one just to have a play with it.

DiSEqC 1.1 gives no feedback to the request.
The result is that while scanning the system finds channels that are not required. So you end end up finding channels in the wrong lists.
DiSEqC 2.1 gives the feedback needed and this spurious mechanism is avoided.

Thanks all for the work and time spent gathering this information.

After the diseqc 1.1 vs 2.1 issue I no longer know if I will buy the 10in1 or the 8in1. Is there any way to circunvent the problem with diseqc 1.1?
Also the price of the 10in1 is much higher than the 8in1 considering the shipping costs to Portugal. I don't know what to do yet but I really need one because my Lnb farm is growing.

You are welcome :-csmile

How much are they asking? Can't they ship the parts with German Post?
It is very reliable and cheap.
Try to contact one of the partners listed in the Best website that Robbo71 has shown in his post and maybe you can have it sent from Spain by post.

What do you mean? The lack of bi-directionality?

Analoguesat uses the 8-1 with 1.1 and seems to have his working OK.
http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli.../107907-up-8-lnbs-your-dreambox-pictures.html

I also use 1.0 for my 4-way and 1.2 for my motor and never had a problem either.

I contacted diferent shops and the shipping costs are always around 25 euros. Did not emailed the ones Robbo pointed but I'm waiting for an answer from er-tronik now.

Wouldn't be better to purchase the 8in1 and connect 4in1 diseqc switches like canofan says? I already have two diseqc 4in1 switches and buying another two wouldn't hurt. They are really cheap.

@canofan,

I believe this 10in1 is also diseqc 2.1 capable. Look at mode 5:

Modus 5: DiSEqC 1.1 oder 2.1 uncommitted, bis zu 10 LNB

oh yes, you are right, it does the bi-directional equivalents as well.

How many LNBs do you actually want to connect then?

I think with cascaded switches you would get a bit more loss.
