As I am all set up and happy with my Fibo 90 I am going to change my TM 5402 to a twin lnb. Got the 2 cables from the dish so just wondering what to get and if any new ones are due.

To jump on this, Would certainly be interested in any models that do 4:2:2 and maybe even HEVC, I have an Azbox but I find the software appalling.

Do you know which model? TI2 demodulation would be good too!

What's a wide-band tuner? Not interested in 4K. I want my enthusiast receivers to be able to deal with fancy modulations that are being thrown all over the place.

I have two A3's albeit not the new models, but not all that impressed with the satellite side of things on the receiver at all. does APSK though. I agree with CJ, I want a proper enthusiasts receiver that does all modulations with blind scan 422 etc, not all 4G and apps, you tube etc..

Had VU before. Mega money but a good receiver if you like to play and cope with the occasional glitch. It also has to be dual tuner. Maybe my former friend in Sweden has the ideal set up. A separate computer with 2- tbs dvb -s2 installed. I believe they cost more than a good receiver.

Yes, so pleased with the TBS that I have just ordered another 5925 together with a new laptop 8GB RAM....1TB storage (total €933)......then at least I will not have to keep changing the coax from the different dishes!

Thanks William, long time user of TM receivers, think the first, 5000 series, I bought in around 2003 and find the current 5402 Mk3 excellent.
It would be nice to see one that handles ACM/VCM Multistreaming. respect-048.gif

How easy would it be to incorporate those cards into something that could be used as a satellite receiver with a remote, without a mouse and all that fancy software? Would I be able to install something like Enigma2 on a PC (which I know is possible) and scan in multi-stream transponders etc.? Of course, that's assuming Enigma2 (or whatever other front end) know what to do with the demodulated streams presented to it.

Gah! I can't stand those LCD screens on the front - why are they needed? I want to get a Duo2 but its front screen is seriously putting me off...

I had a VU+ Duo2 and never bothered the receiver, found it a distraction. When I sold it the buyer said it was faulty but at least VU kept to the 2 year warranty.

As it's a linux based receiver you can run a program, I think it's called LCD4Linux, and change the appearance, of the front panel.

sorry should have called it a "Full Band" tuner:
Full-Band Capture Multidemodulator SoC
Product Code: BCM4528
Broadcom's BCM4528 Full-Band Capture (FBC) multidemodulator System on a Chip reduces system cost and power in the home.

Broadcom’s Full-Band Capture technology enables unprecedented bandwidth scalability and flexibility, resulting in more efficient distribution of video streams and IP services to connected devices in the digital home ecosystem. FBC functionality replaces multiple discrete tuners with one System on a Chip for simpler, smaller, faster and lower-power designs. Coupled with Broadcom's FastRTV®, FBC technology will enable consumers to experience faster channel change, regardless of frequency.

FEATURES
  • Any demodulator can tune to any frequency, removing wideband "block" tuner restrictions for a more efficient distribution of video streams and IP services
  • Satellite systems realize more than 50 percent reduction in power consumption
  • FastRTV® channel change technology paired with FBC provides quick channel change regardless of frequency
  • Achieves more than 65 percent reduction in the number of connections between front-end and back-end devices
  • Replaces up to eight satellite chips, resulting in lower bill-of-materials (BOM) cost

Not sure about E2 or Multi-streams but........
Would a Kodi/TVHeadend combo not work, presuming TVHeadend can handle Multi-stream TPs?

I know you can use a Micro$oft MCE/Xbox remote with Kodi and I'm sure you can map the keys for other remotes
