Hi

I am trying to add Astra1C @2E to my motor settings. I add sats manually. I realise that this sat provides feeds only but is there a transponder that is pretty much always active to help me align to its position?

Will the inclined orbit affect my ability to receive the feeds?

Thanks

If you only have a single motor on the dish, you will only get signals every 12 hours, the time of reception will be based on the quality and size of your dish.

though the bird nearby looks more active, and less inclined

Channel hopper, do you have a link to a site that will say when we are in range to see the feeds ?

How big a dish do we need to view this sat ?

I've got a spare 12" actuator and might fit it to get this satellite

Astra 1C orbital info:

Shes more more or less on the orbital plane when the latitude over on the right is near zero.

Assuming the old girl is still putting out plenty of power a 60-80cm dish should be plenty.

We ?

The Sat-Tracker on the same page as either satellite gives a realtime indication of the deviation away from the equatorial plane. For example,

Strongest signal is about five minutes before the end of the match, assuming a 7.45pm kick-off :-doh!

Seriously, there's a window that will give you a good signal on a 1M dish at 9PM +/- half an hour.

Unfortunately there's no transponder that is predominately active. FWIW almost all of the feeds from this bird are Horizontally polarised between 11200 and 11800 Mhz, but there are the odd vertical exceptions.

Most of the feeds are 4:2:2 so if you want to view them you would have to stream from your dreambox to your PC then decode using an elecard/Nero or similar codec.

Whenever I check this one I've always found 11425V up showing ITN Newsnet, mostly just a camera looking into the newsroom with contact phone numbers.
