Anyone interested in Emu/S*ftCAM how-2?

Going to be doing some slightly more in-depth research into the above (for the Dreambox), i.e. which emu does what (Encryption/bouquet) and how, what components are used, where they go and how to update them all, and their k*ys. Performance, function, configuration, adding, removing and the control panels employed by the various images etc.

Doing it for my own benefit, but might produce a document at the end if anyone's interested.

No promises, but I think it would be useful, as I havn't seen anything of this nature before.

Don't be shy if you have anything I could include in my reseach material either!

Feel free to post pointers to existing resources, or PM me.
 
Sounds like a good idea, I'm using the Newcamd at the moment and had a bit of a problem to sort out where things went, so could have used a guide. :)
 
I want the report added to the Idiot guide not later than tomorrow evening!

I could do with a bit of help using Telnet...not really sure what im doing :P

Im ok with the FTP side of things using WS_FTP ......i think lol
 
With WSFTP Pro you shouldn't need Telnet Lee, you can do near everything you need with it.

Hi Rolf

I was just a bit confused what to do with the new scam file (25/8) with reference to steps 3,4 and 5 below :


1- ftp the box
2- ftp file scam to = var/bin
3- telnet the box
4- cd /var/bin
5- chmod 777 scam
6- exit
7- reboot dreambox


Also when you reboot do you just switch on/off with remote or do you need to power off at mains ? and also do you need to flash erase ?

In WS_FTP, right click the file in question on the right (i.e. on the Dreambox) and click properties. There you can punch in the 'chmod' figure.

@ Lee, Yes and if it needs a flash erase, you need to hold in the channel up button (I think) while you switch on, until it shows flash erase.

...But don't perform a Flash Erase just to implement the above!
A simple reboot will do. Press and hold the standby button for 3 seconds or so, then select 'restart'.
