We have various new birds in the skies above Europe, which may or may not be testing.

Nothing reported as active on them yet on Flysat or KoS but you never know

52.5E - Yahsat 1A (one unmodulated carrier reported active on 11919V on 9/5/11)
23.1E - Intelsat New Dawn
28.1E - Astra 1D (will be feeds only, - no regular broadcasts)
1.6E - Chinasat 5C (leased/bought by Eutelsat!)

Probably 80cm for Astra 1D, but shes well off the arc much of the day.

Chinasat 5C - havent the faintest idea - Eutelsat havent even acknowledged they have got her.

Intelsat New Dawn is probably C-band only in the UK. Although she has a Ku band payload the primary mission for that is central & southern Africa (although that doesnt mean anything during testing).

Absolutely nothing on the spectrum at 52E, 23E (apart from 3:cool: or at 1.6E (in C-band or Ku).

I still haven't finished my declination control yet so I can't check the other one right now.

Last I heard regarding Intelsat New Dawn that there was some possible problem with the C-Band antenna not deployed. They were going to delay the Ku band antenna deployment until they were sure the C-Band antenna was deployed. Could be a nice bit of investigation if anyone picks up any C or Ku Band from 23.1 degrees East.

This is the latest news on New Dawn that I could find: *ttp://satellite.tmcnet.com/topics/satellite/articles/175427-antenna-reflector-deployment-delay-reported-intelsat-new-dawn.htm

Confirmed - the C-band reflector is stuck shut.

This particular frequency (there were others as well) was reported by me on dxtv.de, then reported by someone to flysat.
It were not narrow unmodulated carriers, but looked in spectrum like "normal" wide transponders, strong but blindscan gave no lock.

On 21 May evening again tests were seen, sometimes several transponders in parallel, with frequencies between 11700 and 12200 both H and V.
Since then no luck (I checked about once each evening).

Intelsat New Dawn should according yesterday's TLE by now be on its planned 33 east position, if it's not racing further east...

Intelsat New Dawn has not correctly deployed her C-band antenna. Seeing as only the C-band frequencies were supposed to be available in Europe I suspect its a waste of time looking for that one.
