Currently attempting an amateur installation of a 5 tv FTA system, and would appreciate advice on a particular problem.

Have connected 3 tv sets so far , using a Titanium Octo Lnb, and running the cables from the dish and Terrestrial UHF aerial to a Triax tv / sat combiner, a single cable to each room, and a diplexer wall socket feeding each tv set.

Signal in the 90% range, and fabulous reception when signal comes through.

Problem is that I need to switch on 2 receivers before the satellite signal comes through to either - ie. it appears that there is insufficient DC power from one receiver to " boot " the Lnb. Have tested a direct feed from the Lnb to the receiver and no problem, but would mean doubling all cables throughout the house ( 1 Satellite, one Terrestrial )

Any advice gratefully received.

Can you give a model number of the Triax Diplexer, or perhaps some photos?

Hi Rolfw,

The unit is a Triax Sat / tv combiner part no. 340110.

Power pass on the Sat side 950 - 2400 mhz.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

You would need five of those ( and a matched five way UHF split from the aerial) to run both satellite and terrestrial out to each point

Something is definitely wrong with your design.

Given the number of outlets and the requirement for TV and satellite signals it might have been a better idea to use a quattro LNB and multiswitch.

Some photos or a drawing of your design setup would be of some help as mentioned.

Layout plan attached.

Because the Humax Foxsat reveiver has a second Lnb connection ( directly from the Lnb ) it boots up immediately when switched on. None of theother receivers will work unless at least 2 are switched on.

Beginning to think that there might be a problem with the Lnb ?
