Good Day

I live about 20KM far from Geneva, Swiss 46.24° N 6.14° E

I have Triax 110 Pointing to Nilesat 7W

I can get most of the channel " about 100 Ch" with normal LNB

Two days ago I bought Invacom 0.3 dB High power LNB for more performance but still I didn’t fix it .

I have heard that Gregory antenna has an additional sub reflector and the antenna efficiency and gain of this antenna type increased by using " Gregory double focus principle "

Example : The antenna efficiency of an offset Gregory with 90 cm size corresponds to a normal 110 cm offset antenna

Now my question is :

Is it possible to apply this method on my Triax 110 Dish ?

I mean is it possible to fix any Gregory antenna arm " sub reflector "on my dish ?

To get more performance , if yes anybody try it and how ?

Thank you in advance

It will only be an improvement on a purpose built dish, adapting a standard would be possible, but you would probably lose rather than gain performance.

I have been using that Gregorian dish for a while now and it only performs slightly better than my Gibertini 100.

Satmueller who sells it in Europe claims that it performs like a 110 cm dish but if it does that would be a very bad 110 cm they have compared it to.

Quality is high but the price is a rip-off!

The Gregorian was a revolution in the old days when it was released because with the big lnb and all it's accesories that was used then the Gregorian didn't obscure the signal at all compared to a regular dish.

If you would like to make an improvement to your Triax except for changing the lnb it would be buying or making a matched feedhorn for it.

I have just made a matched feedhorn for my Gibertini but weather in Sweden is too bad right now for spending time on ladders so you have to wait a couple of weeks if you want to know the result.

Gregorian dishes are great for uplink.

I have the Fibo Gregorian dish and it performs well, however the price is horrendous for what i paid, 400 Euro something, i wanted it because i couldn't install anything bigger on my balcony and i needed to receive Astra 2D at my place and it works well for that purpose, i know several Triax 110cm who doesn't get Astra 2D at all in the same area so the gain is pretty good on the Fibo dish.

One thing i hate about it is the H-H mount that came with it, it's useless and ackward, i removed it and placed the Jaeger Geotrack KM1012 on it instead.

The original H-Mount is not very stable i think.

You can't just buy a subreflector and add it to your dish, it's more complex than that.

Fibostöp who made these dishes doesn't exist anymore, my dish is made in 1998 and that was the last production year.

I don't get Nilesat as i am located too far north.

I use it with the Invacom 0.3dB Single, the new model with white plastic cover.

Also i have a separate Seavey Engineering KU-band polarizer to get skew capability.

Using my old Echostar LT8700 receiver for motor and polarizer and a cheap Korean digital receiver.

Have you compared your Triax 1.1m with Fibo 90cm?

Are they equal or do the Triax produce a better signal?

He asks:

Do you come from Switzerland ? You and I can speak to each other in German instead ?

The pictures of the Fibostöp at Satlex, it's similar to my dish.

Maybe someone else can add some information to this.

I have talked to Triaxman, he will do a comparison between the Triax 1.1 m and the Fibostöp 90 cm later on when it's warmer outside.

How did you fit the Sharp LNB to the Fibo feed?

Thank you for the translation

No i am not from Switzerland and i cant speak german

i have Triax 1.1m and i can get nilesat but i am not happy with the quailty of the signal especially when it is rainning

i have heard that a double foucs dish has better quality or works as 1.2 m dish

i have asked for more information from DIY people who tried to apply this method on Triax but no one encouraged me to do this ;(

i have bought an invocome lnb to improve the signel but sadly it was just a waste of money , normal lnb " made in china " works better than invocome lnb !!!

Note: any idea where I can buy the lnb holder and the Gregory reflector alone, as accessories for example?

Thanks
