Hi everyone

I am a newbie here. I have a questions which might seam stupid. My satellite dish 65 cm with monoblock LNB is pointing at Astra and Hotbird. Would I be able to pick up Arabsat from London using this dish.

no, I have a 1m in the north west and get a good signal, for london i'd suggest a minimum of 85cm but even that may not get you a good enough signal.

90cm x 85cm dish, NW London, good signal when the weather is good. When it rains the picture gets blocky and goes.

Is there any particular reason that you wanted Arabsat i.e. the football? You can get most of the football from other sats... but a motorised dish helps ;)

thanks everyone for your help. I am still in the process of installing a 80+cm dish, otherwise it will be obvious from where I live..... landlord etc. I am hoping to get with this dish Hotbird and Arabsat. I really wanted to buy an official ART card on viaccess 2.5 which is sold cheaply on Ebay, as I find no other way. Yes it is football I am looking for. Any help available with viaccess 2.5????

Hi to all,
I have tried to install Arabsat (Bedir) to view arabic channels but all i get is scrambled sky channels.
i live in south west london
my dish size is 1m
i have pointed to the exact direction

any one who have any idea please advice,....

You need to move your dish a degree or two west. Astra 28E's Sky channels come in very strong and are too easily scanned in if you are not exactly on 26E.

but the problem remaind unsolved...
no matter which transponder i use it looks like it point me
to the Astra 28E Sky channels.... is there any other
alternatives....
i am using Technosat T-2006 Single LNBF.
Would changing the LNBF to stronger one make any difference.
case I have tried my reciever (also technosat T-888) with my friends dish pointing to arabsat,
it worked perfect...

A quality dish required with a narrow beamwidth and careful alignment needed.
Something to note for example, transponder 12.130v on Bad-r has an identical transponder on 28e.

What quality make of dish do you have and where is it currently installed ?

There are two ways to get the dish on 26E that I have tried. One is to set it up for 28E, then nudge it west a bit and hope for the best. Flick through all the transponders, if you get a signal on one, scan it and check you get the right channels.

The other is to pick a transponder from 26E that is NOT used on 28E, then use that to tune the dish. I can't remember offhand the best one, I will check later, when I'm not recording something.

12182H SR 16200 FEC 3/4 is strong here in East Anglia. Well away from any TP's on 28.2/28.5E.

12169V is about the same strength as 12182H in my area, 12015V a little weaker.

but as long as it is an oval ku band dish
does it really matter what make it is?
for example some people prefer Triax over others.
