On this Rememberance day would it be possible to close the board for a two minute period at 11 as the country falls silent as a mark of respect to our Heroes past and present? We Will Remember Them.

Nice thought, but the Forum is International in nature, so those who wish to respect the silence can do so of their own volition :)

An interesting postulation from colinp though.

Exactly how should one respond when a post from afar arrives at this forum ?

The speed of light is limited to a few parsecs each year in open space ( slightly less of you are on baguette watch at CERN), and much less once it goes through those funny things called servers/time zones/worm-holes, so those posting from further than the locality might not have a chance to adhere to a protocol bound by earth time.

A degree of discretion should be used by those able to view forum posts, just incase there is some discepancy in the information within, or the delivery time appears to be tardy. Posting a claim of alleged disrespect should include a reason.

Marks of respect should be given as granted, as per the rules of the forum.

Sorry, missed this thread yesterday, unfortunately the only people with the ability to close the forum were out working yesterday and observed their own silence where they were working. As mentioned above, the international nature of the forum would make it impractical due to different time zones.

Just a thought lads. Thanks for your support.
