Science fiction author and futurist Arthur C. Clarke describes predicting the future as a hazardous occupation. But it is something he does amazingly well. Clip from 1964 BBC Horizon programme.

Yes quite spooky really as it was only earlier this year that the first remote operation took place and well it really is astounding what he did predict correctly regarding mobile communications
 
That's fascinating. Arthur C Clarke was a hugely talented and intelligent man. But I think Star Trek should also take some credit for predicting the future.

The 'Communicator' is just like a flip mobile phone, and the Starship even has desktop computers with what looks like orange floppy disks. :D
