I don't mean that. I am talking about the beams which are specially aimed at the Canaries.

Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk 2
its down to the spanish instance that ALL parts of the country are covered if they are to be used for spanish services . as the PE beam is what it says it is A PAN EUROPEAN BEAM then it has to cover the canaries regardless of what channels it will carry .this is true of SES always looking to future use and to being flexible

Hmmm can't say 100% but signal where I am seems like uk spot due to the strength. Just a guess though, also flysat have got the polarity wrong.

hi, everybody....just finished installing a 1.80 offset with black inverto lnb....all channels ok, no breaking up....(puerto rico, gran canaria). :)
kiwitt, will you be able to post an update as soon as they move the UK beam from 1N to 2F ? I desparately want to know if a 1.8m dish will pull it in. Many thanks :-)

Yes BLUEPLATINUM, I too would like that information, particularly as kiwitt is not too far from me. It will be great if a 1.8m dish can be used instead of a 3m.

Not long until we get to find out now Barry. 2F should be up and running in the next fourteen days. On the positive side, assuming Sky put their channels on the pan European beam, Sky subscribers should see their channel choice increase as the channels on Astra 2B North should become receivable on a small dish.

Thanks for this update BLUEPLATINUM, it will be interesting to see what we can receive when 2F is fully operational.

It is a shame kiwitt does not confirm his current reception, if only to give us a clue.

Regards

If Astra 1N is moving to 19E, will the Germans in the Canary Island lose any of their channels? Is 1N an addition at 19E or replacing an old satellite?

I told some Germans last week that they can receive their channels on a 1.2M dish when they are over in March. Don’t want to misinform them.

Of course no one knows for sure what SES plan but I think it's highly unlikely there will be any major changes to the reception of Germans channels in mainland Europe. Astra 1N has a couple of pan-European beams with reception quite far west which I suspect would be used for German and the majority of other channels if they moved to 1N.

I think at the moment the bigger risk is that as some point in the future some Spanish or Portuguese channels might go on the ex-"UK spot" (which would then be pointing further south over Spain) so meaning reception would be tricky in eastern Europe, but even that we don't know about and I'm only guessing.

I am saying that existing installations will get more channels as the 2B North channels go san-European. They already E28A fixed.

(In fact am 80cm dish with quality LNB will do it ... But for 2F ???)

I rather doubt - the 2B Africa beam is much more of a spot beam centred on Nigeria which is a loooong way from the islands.
