New TP fired up - 11112 H 23000 8/9 DVB-S2 QPSK. Currently showing a BBC test card in SD (tagged as SatOps TVC ENC1).

What was the bbc testcard about? Do the bbc have contracted transponders on 1N?

Haven't seen any announcements about the BBC taking 1N TPs. Didn't they just cut a TP last year as a cost cutting exercise ? The TP at 11112 H has the same parameters as their HD TP on 1D but the other one is 8PSK 2/3. Maybe they are testing with a view to switching to the 8PSK modulation as this gives more effective bandwidth. Haven't seen either test for a couple of days now.

Its fta but flagged as encrypted.

Presumably a soon to happen tp change from 10832H on 2D

When this happens Cyprus will lose ITV1 London HD

If it is true that Atra 2D is being switched off and all frequencies shifted to 1N, then the BBC may consider it less risky to do a normal "dual illumination" migration than an instant TP shift.

It's interesting this test used the 23000 SR and also like you said, the same parameters as their one on 2D. Time will tell I guess what happens, with the expansion of BBC1HD's in to the Nations, you'd guess they'd go with 8PSK 2/3 to offer the greatest bandwidth? They'd probably fit five HD services in to a single TP at their 1440x1920 resolution (average of 7mb/service) which if ITV1HD Meridian leaves will give BBC1 HD (x4) + BBC HD/BBC2 HD.

ITV1 HD FTA however the ES is blacklisted so some boxes may consider it as encrypted, however it is not.
MPEG2 L2 sound has just 64kbit/s, so this is still a technical test I guess... AC3 is 256kbit/s. No interactive data association yet.

Looking on Linowsat it also appears, possibly at the time 7480 started showing ITV1HD London around the 13th, that the average bitrates on both ITV Central regions and the ITV1+1 Wales have gone up somewhat. It's now close to 4Mb/s on both services and between 3.5Mb/s and 4Mb/s on ITV1+1 (however this is still running at 544x576i).

Those two William Rd tests are still running at 2Mb/s CBR too alongside the HD feed at 9200 Mb/s, maybe we'll see some more activity on this Txp this coming week?

Its good to see that BBC are testing on 1N. Its good news for those who cant get 2D, but unfortunately unlucky for those who can get 2D but not 1N

The C5 label 7701 on 10963H is now transmitting fta so looks like the 2D version of C5 will be discontinued in the near future..

I tried to view 7480 for ITV1 HD, its just a blue page for me.

Also anyone else noticed the verticals are stronger now? an get 4HD on a 1m dish. Was a shock on an install today and 4HD came in loud and proud.

I would say that will be the case until and if 2D's Txp's are migrated to 1N when there will then also be a handful of Txp's with encrypted services. Once 2E, F and G all arrive in the coming years I'd hazard a guess that there'll be a mixture of spotbeam and widebeam pay and FTA services across all of them.

According to joinfreesat The Freesat C5 postcodes have now been remapped to their correct regions on 1N away from the single 2D version.
