Indeed we do Llew ...
I'm sooo glad I bought this TBS card ..
I almost feel part of the testing process now ;)

A superb bit of kit.

another point worth noting 11611 has had a carrier present since the start ...
Unless its an anomaly on my setup ....perhaps this will be the beacon frequency ...
Maybe even the first transponder to carry data ?

Yes, I've had that one up I think most of the time. Could be a reference frequency for tracking the sat.

It's around 11697V on my graph, very close to my LO switchover point.

I wonder if they will use 1N to replace some of the weaker MUXs at 28deg, some come & go with the sun here!

Your IP puts you in the UK. If you are having trouble with the huge signals that the Astra 2 / Eurobird 1 satellites put out then your system has summat pretty drastically wrong with it!

You shouldnt lose ANY channels except in heavy rain.

Please fill your location in properly & if you give us an idea of the channels you have problems with we may be able to suggest some ideas.

Good afternoon forum just a quick question i know its very early days just wanted to know if the end is near for me reference watching itv 1 channel 4 channel 5 and 5 usa. I live near naples southern italy and have been enjoying just a few channels with my 1.5m dish here on astra north and southern beams. What with all this talk of astra 1n etc i am worried that in a minute my setup will become redundant, am i right???
any clues would be great as i am a little worried.

we don't know yet... it is hard to say if they have already tested the spotbeam.

Right now, I get nothing here from 1N.

It is a communal system, installed by Stanley solutions, that has never worked 100% since it was installed, all the narrow beam stuff (BBC/ITV etc) is fine, it is some of the weaker muxes that are poor - Stanley have been out twice & mess with it, but they say it was not properly installed in the first place - but refuse to fix it properly, because of the situation (there are a lot of trees around here) it impractical to put up my own dish.

Naples is a cold spot for Astra 2D so there is a good possibility 1N spot will be easier than 2D reception. Naples is only 1.5º from the beam centre and there are people much further away that receive it ok, for example Cyprus (3.9º off centre) and Tenerife (4.3º off centre), so not receiving there is just an anomaly.

Probably, although at the moment we just dont know. However we do know C5 want to send their additional channels fta so its a pretty good bet they will switch to the narrow 1N. beam at some point. In addition its a no brainer that the remaining ITV channels on the widebeam will also be switched to narrow so they can be transferred over to Freesat

Perhaps its time to move :D

However I reiterate there is no such thing as a "weak mux" at 28E with a properly installed and maintained system.

Tough - you are well outside the designated service area for the BBC channels. Get a decent uk based vpn and a reasonable broadband connection and watch the BBC & ITV via the net instead :D

However remember the BBC streams will NOT be moving to the spotbeams at least to start with - they are changing frequency yes. Anyone with a reasonable fta receiver should be able to tune them in if they can get the 2A south beam.

Of course there is no guarantee that they wont move to the 1N spot in a few weeks time ;)

Hmm. Not sure that no longer being able to get something you shouldn't really have been getting in the first place - and are not paying for in any way - should give rise to anything more than an almost imperceptible shrug of the shoulders.

I guess those who miss UK broadcasts will have to move closer or in the UK - I cannot understand why folks like UK TV so much??? it has gone downhill since the 1970s in my humble view - unless I'm getting more fussy:confused Do they not make decent TV in the middle east?

I used to love series such as Survivors, Blakes 7 Doomwatch, The Avengers etc.

Absolutely. BBC4 is the only consistently excellent Channel these days - and even that is under threat.

Fortunately our hobby gives us access to other cultures, languages etc.
