Hi,

I think there is no thread for Spain so I'm creating this one.

I live in Málaga and can say that all British channels can now be received with an 80-cm dish.:)

I'm getting 72% quality.

Currently using a digital 1200CI receiver 1m dish and platinum lnb most channels OK but no C4 and v poor itv2 and 4+1s and some of the bbcs , suspect my lnb may be deaf, trying an inverto black ultra to see if things improve on monday (€25 delivered as he lives so local) , any advice of other changes greatly appreciated, a local installer 3km away is using an 80cm dish with everything. I am in gandia.

Hi Terry
Im getting ch4 and itv2+1 (but not itv2) on a 80cm here in murcia at the moment so you should get it with a 1m...The pace 2600 is a good receiver...make sure you lnb is skewed exactly 1mm either way can make all the difference...failing that wait for your new black ultra...or perhaps your dish needs slightly realigning

80cm is too small. It is on the verge of complete signal colapse on some transponders due to the interference from 26E and 30E. Also don't believe everything people tell you. Even on a 90cm dish certain transponders get jerky at certain times of day. It's a shame that here on the Costa Blanca things are measured by the lowest standard that one can get away with in optimum conditions rather than something that will perform flawlessly all year round even when the weather is bad (like in March and April).

So you said before, so, like i posted on another thread how come on my 80cm dish I am getting all 1N channels with no pixelation?
Popped an inverto UBlack on there also now, but all was OK before i did that.
I dont even think the dish is actually aligned 100% either, as its on a motor whos arm moves around a few clicks at randowm times whenever it feels like it!
True, its nice weather, and we all know reception will not be as good in very wet heavy cloud and rain, but then thats not even gaurenteed on 90cm/100cm dishes.
But ther are all here on my 80cm dish (yes, as I said before thats 80 measured horizontally!)
In your area, Javea, yes, 80cm is too small.

Take an atomiser spray a bit of water on the dish and see how quick the picture disappears. Also you already posted in another thread that you had some pixelisation on C4 at certain times of day. Anyway my point is just because you can (just) hold a picture doesn't mean the dish is big enough for reliable domestic use. Even the smallest shaking in the wind is going to cause UCBs. By the way what gave you the idea I'm in Javea.

isnt that near 38.5ºn, 0.5ºw ??
Denia / Javea area?

It took 3 clicks on the motor in either direction before pixelation started to occur on C4.
(Dont know how far 3 clicks is though)
And this is on a Lidl Silvercrest receiver - not one of the best receivers around
So true, not much leeway. But it is possable.

Also, for info purposes, some motorhomers in South Portugal have been saying all channels available on an 80cm dish.

Here if I move the Fibo 0.2º in either direction it drops 10803 H completely. Fibo LNB is skewed for the arc though so is 7.5º for Astra sats. That's enough to see the peaks on the spectrum in the opposite polarity.

Portugal is 600 km west of here and that beam seems biased to the west so it's not surprizing really.

have you seen pipinos post about the tdt transmission knocking out his 10803 from the benimeli transmitter?

no ,but i found out why ...there is a very strong signal coming from benimeli DTT station witch kills that transponder completly ...never knew that spanish DTT have horizontal Qpsk links using sat band ,,its the whole bloody Canal9 mux

10803 h same here : 2 to 3 clicks either way and I lose it.

wonder if I have the same thing from the Monduber masts..?

Yes. C9 is 802 MHz here. Not sure up there. 10803 IF is 1053 MHz so I don't see the connection unless it is a link up or something like that.

Thanks for info if all else fails will change the cable as 7 years old and has one join, I hate f connectors and suspect I am losing at least 1dB on the join 1m-1f not the least connections the better. Will hold fire until the new lnb arrives first but have reterminated the plug at lnb end without improvement.

Sounds like interference from 26E or 30E. The only way you are going to align that properly is with a professional grade meter.

The sat and pc guy from gandia delivered my lnb, slapped into holder and before even adjusting had channel 4, now have BBC1,2,3 + 4. Itv1, 2, 3 + 4 c4,e4 film4, more 4 and all the C5s plus BBC news and the all important five live and sports extra radio channels. Thanks to all for the advice. Signal levels up 2-3db and quality between 50-95% but even lower figures seem to have stopped dropping out. Will update after tonight to see if still good at night.

Excellent news terry...glad you got it working ok...I might buy another black ultra...i had one last year but didnt see any difference between my b.e.s.t lnb and the ultra...Although i read loads of reports on it saying that it was excellent and everyone else said it improved signals...maybe i had a dodgy one. anyway i ended up giving it away but might but another one to see if it improves things..Tell me can you get 11778 where you are? im assuming not on a 1m

Now I'm not sure this is just a big wind-up.

Anyway that is one of the few installers at the north end of the Costa Blanca that I actually recommend when a job is out of area I cover.

Well for sure you can get can get the EPG off 11426 on EB1 on that dish. That gets you about 150 channels. And then if you schedule your CrossEPG download so it happens at a time when the transponder is strongest. Personally it is 24 hours here because I'm using a 1.8m, although a lot of people still struggle at that dish size. Or just do it manually a couple of times a week. Load EPG Audio as a radio channel and whenever that is active you will be able to download the EPG.
