Astra 28.2 UK Beam Propagation Anomaly

According to a report on our FB page the 28E UK beam are being received on much smaller than usual dishes atm!








Anyone got any ideas why??

Hi, the big anomaly observed here in central Bohemia today. Many of UK Beams TP received on only 120 cm dish!

Must be freak conditions - stronger signals have been reported in France as well

It is possbile, but other satellites are normally. So i don´t know.... Maybe some meteor hit antennas :-D

I noticed my reception of the nordic beam on 1W has got stronger. (SVT HD channels were almost 90% SNR on my 80cm). I did wonder if the cold snap could be the cause.

It will be atmospheric conditions of some sort - might be worth trying other weak beams / satellites atm as well and see if there is any bonus reception available

The satellite providers will have increased the downlink power to cover the additional link losses due to the conditions on the ground.

In the past if things got really bad the encryption of the scrambled channels would be turned off to prevent a deluge of refund claims on subscriptions.

I was being positive about the - sole - referendum, so hardly.

I don't know if a downlink power increase is in place with 28.2E but I have to report that today it's the first time I received all 2F European beam frequencies during noon which the signal is at it's peak! Normally not even a 2m dish will suffice for reception. Even 2G's signals increased with 11038 coming now at a staggering 17.2db!!! Let's hope it lasts although I won't hold my breath...

Not sure what's happening, but it seems it's not happening to me!
Due to change of in-door equipment, I went throught the channel list, and I seem to have lost not just CH4, but also many of the other 5/6 FEC transponders etc. (BBC2/4HD and so on).
This is the worst reception I've ever had!
Could be due to new gear (multiswitch) installed, could be due to misaligment (although I doubt it).
I think I will need to realign the CM180 to 2F, then try again...

and Astra-2E @ 28.5 east 10847 V 23000 2/3 S2 BBC-1 HD

no Lock still
