Speculations but the beam got great coverage of Europe, north and south.

I do wonder if ITV will place either some of the ITV1 or ITV2 or ITV3 regional channels there.

No chance for the main services. Part of the reason ITV went fta was that 2D has the restricted beam.

ITV has booked half a tp on 2C to enhance their services, but I take that to mean more data / interactive stuff.

Sorry, but i have to add that Europe consists also of an eastern part and having a look at least at the official "new" footprints http://www.ses-astra.com/corpSite/site_en/04_ASTRAFleet/03_satellite_list/astra2c/index.php there is a non-covered hole from Moscow down to Cyprus. This will mean either large dishes or no reception. We'll see.

Hi, so is the 2C satellite in addition to 2A, 2B, and 2D for the SKY package channels? Or does it replace one of them?

Both!

- 10 new frequencies will be activated
- 6 frequencies off 2B will move to other birds (probably 2C) to allow 6 2B frequencies to be slewed onto the 2B steerable beam firing into west Africa.
- 2C provides badly needed backup to all the others in case of failure / problems
 
Sigh. No - as soon as 2C fires up we will post the info.

10964H is the existing analogue channel ZDF on Astra 1L.

Ive got several analogue receivers :D

No further news at the moment enoc - I had a quick look for 10964 Sunday afternoon, but couldnt find any signal.

As soon as 2C fires up with something interesting in digital one of the regulars will post the info, I guarantee it :D

There is no chance whatsoever of ITV 1 - 4 going on 2C :D

Nope. No point folks asking. I promise as soon as she lights up I'll post something. As soon as I know you will know! (assuming someone doesnt beat me to it!)
 
The next one to ask "any news yet???" is going to zapped into space faster than a greased lightning (and can find out him/herself)
 
how many transponders are active now??
 
Funnily enough,just today I was working on a 4.2m dish and I had to get out my satlook meter as my usual promax was playing up. On the spectrum,on 2D, while aligning for BBC etc I noticed a big spike between the 2D bunch and the Eurobird bunch. The good thing about the satlook is that when you lock on to a frequency,it names all channels there.One was FIVE and four other unnamed channels. I think it ws 10.964 but I will check on my receiver later.
