Astra 2C seems moving west. Any info about its next orbital location?

I seem to recall a failure of one of the birds sent to 16E to replace yet another duff one.

Maybe it's headed there?

I don't know for sure, but I know a man who will ......................
 
Interesting - I'll ask my contact at SES if he can divulge where shes going.

Wont be 16E though unless shes been leased to Eutelsat.

Sesat 1 is back on air - all 16E channels seem to be currently available - I was hopping across my fta 16E channel list an hour ago.

I saw that! Basically, we don't know.
 
A new home at 19E is a distinct possibility - allowing the very elderly 1H to be bumped off somewhere else.
 
1D is on the move as well - shes currently near 28E and heading east.

So how about this:

2C to 19E to replace 1H

1H to 2E to replace 1C / 1D

1C retired to graveyard

1D to 52.5E to supplement Yahsat 1A or 5x E to activate the Azeri slot
 
I am experiencing flashbacks to the Red Dwarf Episode where Lister played Asteroid Snooker (Or was it Pool?).

1D is now at 28E. Probably 1D will stay there until arrival of 1N

They can't use 52.5E may be 51E if they need to release 1F.

FYI Azeri slots are 43.2E and 58E.
 
There is no way whatsoever SES can use 1D for broadcasting at 28E - shes too far inclined (currently well off the arc at 3.2 deg north) I wouldnt have though they would have wanted a rickety old bird anywhere near one of their prime broadcasting operations

Sounds good... Not sure why but seem to distinctly remember watching 1D being fired up back in the 90's.

...and now, rckety old bird she is ;)
 
Question...While 1D is hanging around at 28E ,is it transmitting anything ?
 
Only my own theory and probably nonsence, but extra capacity or backup being created for the worldwide 2012 Olympic tranmissions?

I don't get this! Being inclined doesn't mean the satellite is broken, it just means it is not unnecessarily wasting fuel doing north/south station keeping when doing so is not needed under its current mission parameters. Doing a burn would get it back to 0º inclination if the operator wanted to. What am I missing?

I was just looking at 1D's mission at 19.2ºE. The transponders were exactly the same as 2D's current mission at 28ºE. Or maybe EB1 is going back to Eutalsat.
