Hi Folks....first post so please be kind!

Ive been looking around the discussions over the last fews days and i have found a wealth of information, so much so, that i ive become rather confused!

I live in a place called certaldo (LAT 43:32:51N (43.54739), LON 11:02:19E (11.03856)), and i was wondering what i could get in my location.

I have my own detached house, therefore i have full access to the roof to mount equipment. By no means am i technically minded, therefore is there someone that could give me some advise on the basic sat specs that will enable me to receive BBC, channel4 etc etc (if at all possible). Ideally, i would like the dish as small as possible (so not to block the sun from my garden!), but functional...

I was thinking about gettiing a Pace box and registering a freeview card in the uk.

If anyone could makes any suggestions about equipment, provide links that are applicable to my situation it would be appreciated...similary if anyone knows any local companies/individuals that could help me out, please PM me..

Many thanks inadvance

Hi buddy,
A chap named Dave Branson, who is a member here, lives in Firenze so I'll leave it to him to advise you.
Check out the stickies for more information on what you may need at your location.

from many reports on italian boards I can say that:
- installing correctly a 120-125 cm. dish, from Firenze you can get Astra2D and all BBC - ITV - Film4 channels, but you will lose signal in bad weather conditions
- using a 150 cm. dish you get Astra2D all the time, sun or rain, day or night

use a low noise LNB (0,3 - 0,2) and a decent receiver with a sensible tuner (I don't know about Pace box)
