Still holding at 43.5.

FWIW, I amplified the 'cleaner' section of that clip of tone in VS's file and it reads as 630Hz, although that may be sum/product of several harmonics?

Not that much help really though.
Nice one Llew ..
My old ears had it down at somewhere between 500hz and 1Khz ...so that checks out..

Why are u hurry? It is annonced that 2E will be operates first half of February. Which means it will be on the way to 28.2 on 15th -20th of January.

We have been told many things over the past few months.

Treat all information with healthy scepticism.

We know that but thought it may have begun it's move - there's a lot of people waiting with baited breath and enthusiasts alike who'd like to see it finally illuminated. I'm surprised if it's expected in February they didn't raise it's orbit a tad as per 1H to save housekeeping fuel?

I've just trawled through SES's facebook page, think they've actually deleted the statement they put on there as I can't find it. It is copied on this thread somewhere whenever they released it.

Cheers Llew for checking, just curious after Solly's observations yesterday.

It's still there M60, but buried in replies to one of the (many) questions about 2E, 1H etc. For a company whose whole business is based in communication, their lack of the same is laughable.....

I agree there, will have a trawl through the thread later as probably easier to find it there. Look at companies like BT, they specialise in communication and are pretty bad at it too!

I heard from a bloke who lives next door to a dog that goes to the pub with someones sister who's married to a duck from Worthing that Sky are changing orbital slots in order to get 3pm football games to show on a Friday night

Only joking

With a bit of luck by the end of next week we should have some news one way or the other

It does seem rather odd to leave the bird sat there doing nothing

Granted....but acknowledging a question even with a 'sorry, we cannot comment' answer would be better than ignoring it, whether or not we are the customers.

That is true!

I did find it amusing though they ignored all the facebook posts until someone started making wild suggestions about damage or it being 'broke' which I'm sure SES didn't like their shareholders and other investors to read. Only then did it spur a reasonable response!

Of course. Anything like that getting to the press would be damaging, so they had to react before the rumours started to spread even further. But naturally, if they sit there silent people will start to speculate.

It would be better for them in the age of the internet to openly communicate their progress. Like Airbus does now for the A350 project. The communication desasters around the A380 project have caused a lot of bad press (and more)

No hurry I really do believe the powers that be ( Astrium & Astra etc. ) have seen the light:D

IPTV streaming is the way forward with newer STBs offering this option and numerous other gadgets such as Roku and Now boxes popping up, even sly broadband offering a free wireless booster to existing and new customers.

( wonder why )?

Just my opinion as usual.

They should just shut down their facebook page, can't see many customers on there, just us "plebs" who should be kept in the dark...

My tripod is still shivering from the outdoor session, bloody cold here now!
On the other hand the sky is crystal clear in all directions.

Nothing at all to report - 2E remains glued to the same old position.

The big question is if and when the right owners will try to shut down that loophole.

If NOW TV is the way forward Sky have got a problem.

During my month long trial I managed one film without it buffering at least twice during the film (so I haven't bothered resubscribing and have switched to LoveFilm which works fine) - it's not the box as iPlayer and 4od work perfectly fine.

The download speeds on the Digibox are appalling too - at 16:00 Saturday I started downloading a programme which said it would be deleted at 21:00 - as it still hadn't got 20% downloaded by 19:30 I went upstairs and watched it on the BBC Iplayer on my Android tablet without a single drop out - went downstairs and saw it get deleted at 25% downloaded... (Wired Ethernet on a 70mbps connection - FWIW BBC iPlayer, 4od, LoveFilm and Netflix never have problems - and my housemates can easily stream 4 iPlayer shows simultaneously but the Sky On Demand is just hopeless)

As a solution, or even a natural progression it only works if you have sufficient broadband speed to support it properly. I'm struggling to get a half meg here and really can't see that improving anytime soon. Broadcasters should run two systems in tandem or they risk alienating lots of customers in rural or poorly supported broadband areas.

I still think (and hope) it will be a good while before they give up on satellite completely. Although the 'office bods' see the advantages in BB distribution, sat is still by far the cheapest way to reach a mass audience. And while there are still large pockets of the population with poor/no broadband, sat & terrestrial are still something of a necessity.

Couldn't agree more.

We are not exactly beyond the civilised world but there are no plans whatsoever to improve our infrastructure to improve upon a notional 1Mbps in the near or middle future.

And there's no solid DTT.

Ergo, Satellite is the biz.

Is there any risk to 2E being hit by the football launched into orbit by Jason Puncheon's attempt at a penalty kick on Saturday afternoon ?
