Have seen a slight improvement in signal here but not been able to get C4 HD. Had CH5 for some time now, yes it does get a bit pixelated at times but is watchable. Cant say seen any 'significant' change.
Zero signal for CH5HD here!!
oops - just noticed - you said CH5 (not HD)

CH5 HD is likely to reappear when 2E goes live. It is currently on 1N PE.

Well a quick look at Flysat reveals the following:

10964 H Channel 5 bouquet. --------------- Currently good reception 90% of time
10994 H Various ITV1 plus an ITV1 HD. ---- Currently good reception 90% of time
11023 H BBC HD services. ----------------- Cannot test on Sky receiver
11053 H Various ITV1 plus an UTV HD. ----- Currently good reception 90% of time
11126 V Channel 4 HD / 4Seven. ----------- Unwatchable pixelated to nothing

Well it is not exactly a scientific sample but there definitely seems to be a much better signal on the horizontals here. There is a glimmer of hope as at least there is sniff of 11.126 V which is better than we ever had with Astra 2D verticals.
Now that BBC Red Button HD has appeared on the Sky EPG I have been able to check "11023 H BBC HD services" ... not a dicky bird, so my theory about polarisation is not as simple as it seemed.

I can receive 10993, H, 22000, 5/6. It gives me 6 channels: ITV HD, ITV + 1 and 4 more that just show as 'ITV'. Is this from 2F ? as I can't seem to find any references to it.

Ch5..Ch4HD..4/7....BBC1 Wales HD...all at 100% Q.....mainly thanks to the Gibby 150 & Raven Feedhorn...:-))...There has been tests on my other Forum...A Gibby 125 & feedhorn is also ok for Munich.....tho with less rain margin....(at current 2F signal levels)........the future is looking... "very horny"....here.....

Those transponders are about 26MHz wide so you can tune a few MHz either side of the centre frequency and still pull in the channels.

Thanks timo. Learn something every day :).

For the first time in many years I had a channel breaking up last night - Was watching Channel4+1 and it broke up several times. Checked signal which seemed very strong and also the Ch5 group were all behaving fine so no idea why!!! A bit of cloud about but nothing unusual.

Was breaking up here as well....possibly a problem at the uplink end....

You are not meaning Ch5 HD FTA ?
No, C5 HD has recently signed a new deal with Sky to be a pay channel so it will remain encrypted but it will be easier to get in Tenerife when it moves to 2E.

Hmm bad news, the govt should step in to force it to be FTA
Then C5 would likely just shut it down as it can't afford to run the channel on its own without backing.

I had the exact problem last week on all the 4 channels..it lasted about 2 days. Everything is set up ok here with a strong signal so must have been on their end.

Hello all,
I live in the South of France and have been observing a strange phenomenon on one of the Astra 2F transponders. Every thirty minutes, just before the hour and the half hour, the signal of 11126V drops by about 1 dB for a 5 minute period. I have taken spectra and IQ plots both inside and outside of a low period. The RF level remains the same, the SNR drops. Similar drops at 30 minute intervals were observed in Germany.
Have any of you observed the same artifacts, or have an explanation for this?
