That is very weird.

Is everyone of the opinion the beam has been moving?

Something's happening here (Draguignan, France).

23rd - 11023H signal suddenly lost at 13:30, before that SQ 75/60 on Humax Foxsat HDR with 90cm
24th - 11023H SQ same up until 16:00, then lost suddenly
today 11023H SQ same, still OK at 17:00

all times CET

Now breaking up at 17:30

When the swap does eventually happen - will we need to adjust our dishes?. I note on some forums a few people are talking about tweeking their skew and the dish itself. Does this mean the new sat will be in a slightly different place and have a different skew? and if it does is this why some people can't get a lock on the new signals at the moment? I hate change ......

It means their setup was not brilliant, but the strong signal was camouflaging that

on the germany site sattuloger had the same problam and he fix it , no signal , can you check with reciver??
your cart is tbs?

vladan, he's just a bit too North and East so outside of the very sharp edged beam. Here are his location and system details:

Schöningen (Niedersachsen) - 52,13°N - 10,95°O
Equipment: Gibertini OP 100 XP mit Inverto Black Ultra (Quad) und GTSat GT-DM14MG (45°W - 70.5°E)
Vantage HD8000S / Technotrend connect S2-3600

sattuloge's dish is 3.65m, so not comparable to that of gonzobaby. His location is at least 150km SE.

weird is one word. I prefer to use gutting.

If it transpires, once all this movement has settled down that I am without 2F, then I'll be gutted knowing that I am in the physical footprint but they have electronically (by steering the beam or otherwise) managed to stop me receiving it.

Joddle, all these satellites can not be in the exact same position if they were it would mean they had crashed into each other! They are very close (but not touching), it is possible with a large dish to optimise the signal of one satellite by aligning the dish to transponders on that satellite (as we did with 2D). This means (unless we use more than one dish - some bars have two 3m dishes) we won´t get all the channels that we could get, but we get the channels we want the most.

Thanks ! There is hope for me here in Goya :) What is the amiko alien , a type of tuner ? Sorry not able to distinguish the substantial difference between the two reports.

In any case , this is the most westerly report in the Spanish " edge " to the beam since there has been talk of the beam " moving / shifting " eastwards so either the eastern edge has expanded towards eastern europe or its a different beam being tested since this south western edge seems " solid ".

Where did you get that report? Yesterday I popped down to see "Torrevieja" and adjusted the dish. 1m Famaval Hi Gain (which is really a 90cm dish left/right) produced a watchable picture with occasional pixeling.

No, you are not able to do that. The distance between satellites is around 0.01 degrees. The opening angle of a 3 meter dish is about 0.6 degrees. Way to big to notice any difference between satellites.

Thanks for that- of course I realised they were not close to touching each other but had wondered about their orientation - ie if the amount of skew could vary slighlty from one to another of the sats. If most of what I want is going to be on 2F then it would make sense to optimise for that sat!! And is the EPG still going to be on another Sat for freeview? SORRY I MEANT FREESAT :-wow

Joddle I will wait until it all settles down. 2F might move slightly when 1N and possibly 2D move from 28.2.

That's not true. The satellites at 28.2 are often 0.2º apart. Also, E28A and Astra 2 are 0.3º and that can easily be seen on a meter even when the dish is only an 80cm.

and in which direction do you suppose it might move? And will that affect the footprint any?

The 2D has already moved to 28.0 (check Lyngsat or KingOfSat).
