This morning, In Potenza (Southern Italy), with a Prodelin prime focus dish 11Ft (3.34 m) I am able to receive all satellites at 28E. Starting from the best position for Astra2F (11023 H, 8,8 dB ) I had to route the dish towards West to catch the maximum signal at 12480V . Doing so I passed the best position for Astra1N, The variation for 12480V was from 9.5 dB (position Astra2F) and 10.2 dB (Astra1N) to 13.0 dB (best position for 1240V). So I can affirm that 12480V is not on either Astra2F or Astra1N.

Coviello

im agree with you Coviello.
in our fringe area i need to move my 3.00 mt dish for best results from astra 28.
at the moment i can receive all the frequency from astra 2a north beam...
in the past, i received only the high range frequency during the day and the low frequency in the late afternoon

Hi Solly,

If you refer to 12207V Madrid on my 1.2m motorized , i get SNR 74% which is a lot stronger than I get 2A north and weaker than 2A south. Its about right for 2F uk Spot but reports are its available in Portugal, its also much weaher than any 1N spot im aware of.

1N PE beam is SNR 100%

By " spot " if you refer to the what is being called the UK Spot , eg ITV3 10906V im currently getting 96% in heavy rain. Though to make sure were talking about the same " spot " this isnt really a UK spot right ?

I've done some checks on field strength here in North West England and the PE beam of 1N (if that's what it is) certainly isn't at the same level as that of the spot. Even considering the wider antenna pattern, 1N and 2F have higher EiRP than 2A and 2B but looks like they are running the PE beam at lower power, ie the same as what 2A and 2B was/is.

Can anyone with Crazyscan analyser software do some off-air plots to reference.

I have a Xtrend ET 6500.

My dish is a Wave Frontier T90 and I make reception from 42 east to 1 west.

I use 14 lnbs with diseqc 16x1 emp.

According to a report in Greece, in Xanthi North East of Greece (Lat:41 Long.25) Astra 1N European beam is NOT receivable even with 1.2m dish.
This is very strange due to the fact that according to the map, this beam should have been there OK with 1.2m.

In general it can be argued that the signal drops dramatically at the edge of the beams of the new satellites of SES.

Therefore, in Greece we will not have chances to receive channels (when this happens) from the Astra 1F European beam with dishes less than 1.5m.

Xanthi looks like it's right on the edge of the 1.2m border. If you can't pick it up there with a 1.2m then it's not surprising I can't get it with a 1.8m in Helsinki. In your case the 2F European beam would make more sense.

What is the point of a beam that requires a 1.2m dish in any case .. The only people that have dishes that big are enthusiasts anyway ? I dont think the mass market is going to be putting up 1.2m dishes anytime soon.

1.5m and 1.8m dishes are still quite common in Finland and where pretty standard in the 90s if you wanted to watch satellite TV (eg Filmnet) before Canal Digital and Viasat came along and the higher power Astra and Hotbird satellites. My parent's neighbourhood in Helsinki isn't cabled so virtually every third house or block of flats had a 1.8m dish in the garden or on the roof looking at Astra 1A/1B/1C, and there are still a lot left.

According to Lyngsat there are only two transponders still active on the Astra 2B, both south beam: 11973V and 12344H.
