Well I am trying on the 80cm and I'll try with my new motorised 1.2 tomorrow but that TP has always been really weak here.

Sadly the 1N seems to be a fluke at times. It appears randomly and sometimes for a few mins.

It's a bit weak on an 80cm during the day but no problems on a 1.8m in Helsinki but strangely seems a bit stronger in Lapland on my 80cm up there.

1.8m standard dish, twin LNB. SKY HD

Hi,
i see a lot fo chat about reception of 2F in the Spanish region. Does anyone have any clue as the nordic areas.
I currently recieve all Sky channels except the standard UK channels (BBC1, ITV, Channel 4) on a 1.m dish in southern finland.
Of course waiting and seeing would tell a lt, but i'm moving house next week and the new house doesn't yet have a dish installed. Would be pointless to install if nothing can be recieved.
any info appreciated.

cheers

Forget about Astra 2F - you're too far unless you can afford to get at least 3,0m dish or possibly even bigger. As far as $ky is concerned, you still need a dish, so if 1,0m dish is good enough then install it at new premises.

According to a post at Astra2, no lock using a 2.4m dish near Helsinki. Not good news.

We really need to see how the pan-European beam performs, but even a 1.8m dish could be too small. It really depends on how fast the signal fades to the east. It could be bad for Sky viewers in Finland, might have to just put up with the Eutelsat channels soon (and if SES get their way we might not even have that!).

Right now it's just the 2F UK spot that has been tested which will be very hard to get.

Thanks for the info. I guess it's just a waiting game.

Great. Spotted that.
Only thing I need (really). Is the reception of sky sports and espn.
Have gotten accustomed to live rugby. Anything else is a bonus.

I think all the effort and money that is being put in to block fellow Europeans from watching British television is such a waste of money.
And why is it ok for the Dutch and Belgians but not for the Germans French Spanish etc... The Dutch and Belgian providers even advertise the BBC channels as part of their subscriptions.

I'm Belgian and as Belgians we get the BBC channels on cable since as far as I can remember and I also know that not a lot of people watch those channels. If people watch British programmes then they do it on our own channels with Dutch subtitles (our national channels do buy broadcasting rights for BBC series etc)

So it's the expats and a small percentage of Europeans that actually watch. And of course a lot of satellite nerds who don't really watch, but just like to be able to catch the signal :)

If its the Brittish government paying for this then I think it's disgusting. They could have lowered taxes or invested in more quality programming.

I wonder if British people have access to the signal of for example the German national channels...

All national channels should be FTA and if need be everyone should pay a small fee for this as the Germans and British people already do.
