Astra 2F Testing Reception Reports

Even stranger is Solly has a lot more signal at 12460 than 12300. VS is about even, and I've got more at 12300 than 12460 by quite a bit. So 12460 is baised to the east compared to 12300. 12460 = ME spot beam?
I still don't understand this, and to make it even stranger Kiev has 12300H as the stronger beam. Solly in Tel Aviv, has 12460 as the stronger beam. Both are around 30E longitude, so what's going on?

re any of these beams steerable? if not if they turn 2f say 90degrees would that make the beam point another direction?

What is difficult here is that all 3 beams are probably being tested at the same time..... I`m no expert but this leads me to beileve why there is the complexity of reports coming in....... Frankly as long as that african beam stays well clear of Europe and there is no type of frequency reuse in europe I`ll be happy.

there is a steerable reflector on that satellite, however I dont know whether that is for Ka Band only. All the birds of that Astrium series got a steerable one plus 3 or more huge reflectors.

Ka band is for the French market......

i was going to say maybe there testing interfeeence but the signal being different for the exact oppposite area suggest frequency reuse to me on different beams

Would that mean that they could send a disturbing signal or other programmes on the same frequencies as the UK channels, but on a beam covering continental Europe and thus completely block reception of UK channels elsewhere in Europe? *shocked*

Good evening, dear All. I was also following the recent developments regarding testing activities on ASTRA 2F here in Yerevan, Armenia (eastern neighbour of Turkey). Yesterday the following 4 transponders were being tested and I managed to lock them with a fabulous, incredibly high strength:
12227 H; 12246 V; 12304 H; 12324 V. Unfortunately, today only the last two are active but their intensity is simply impressive. In addition, among other users I also had a chance to pick some testing signal in DVB-S2 ACM/VCM, as well as 16/32 APSK modulation from 11817 V and it was not an interference of Turksat as in that case it would remain stable, meanwhile noticed weak temporary carriers on 10876V; 11537 V and much weaker locks on repeatedly mentioned 12401 V; 12460H. Thus, it can be assumed that ASTRA 2F is capable of transmitting signal in this bands:
11700-12100MHz (Band E)
12100-12500MHz (Band F)
10700-10950MHz (Band D UK spot beam) and possibly
11200-11450MHz and 11450-11700 (Bands A & B respectively which entails in paving the way for confrontation with Eutelsat)

Wow, Astra 2F even in Yerevan, with your 1.05 meter dish I presume? Impressive!

what freuqncy use 16/32 apsk
try to lock it
11120V cant pick signal it spot beam ?

Almost certainly any frequency can be switched onto any beam these days.

And its already confirmed that the new birds can transmit on 11450-11700 & 12500-12750 bands from the SES press release from earlier today

The new satellites in this neighbourhood will use the additional frequency spectrum as of October 2013 for DTH satellite television services in the U.K. and Ireland and for other services inside and outside of Europe.

So says the SES press release................................. hmmm is it me or does this this read like frequency reuse even inside Europe??

A new frequency activated-12270 H- with a very interesting constelation. As you can see the signal is strong on the upper part of the band received in the west of Romania;modulation test?

probally as that is what it appears to me from some of the test signals, it wasnt until i re read each post from solly and others i noticed the pattern as suggestion frequency reuse and it appears like it can be very effective maybe that why they didnt mind about the spot beam to much as reuse would kill it similar to ka spots

Thxs for info. I also tracked that frequency with an amazing strength and it seems that currently it has shifted to its classical value of 12266 H which is inherent to ASTRA satellites' frequency plan. But while I was replying the test carrier has been switched off. Can someone else confirm the reactivation of 12266 H?

Frequency reuse will be on the spot beams UK and WEST AFRICA which are 3500km apart so no problem there

the 12401v tested signal my spectrum not lock yet signal but it give 64%
