Here we go then , triax td88 on a technomate tm2600 receiving Hispasat 30W at the time of the photo. I'm well chuffed,twas so easy to set up (thanks to you guys on this forum.) On the left is a 60cm maplins dish for the wifes freesat.

Well done, PDP: Your assertiveness to Jokedel yesterday has paid off!

One minor point: The cable from the motor to the LNB, whilst neatly routed, is going to be prone to coming adrift at the motor F connector >>> As you pan one way, it will drag and eventually loosen the connector. Panning back the other way is like pushing string, so won't re-tighten it. Eventually it'll become intermittent.

When it does, best thing to do is re-route it so you can strap it to the pole close to the motor - that'll shift the fulcrum and stop it coming loose. I see you've done just that with the Motor to Receiver cable ............. (which is the one that doesn't move!), for neatness.

But that's mere fluff. You've done a grand job.

Thanks especially for your help Tivu, just peaked out on Thor 1W, set everything to Usals and bingo. Awesome, and the motors reasonably quick too, bit heavy getting it all up on the pole though and i've got muscles too!

Yes, i've cut the cable a tad short, i realized that when i was doing it in the week. I'll probably do it tomorrow if the weather is good. On 53E its too tight, but i thought it'll do for today.At some point i'll get a top notch lnb too. Need a break today, been trying to get this done amongst all the showers we've been having down here.

Cheers Nelson B ,scanning in 7W now. I get a cracking signal off 12W, i could never get a lock before with those lnbs on brackets,this IS the way to go!!!

Don't forget 7W is actually 7.2 (or is it 7.3?)W >>> and that couple of tenths will make an enormous difference with that dish.


And don't Blind Scan it unless you want to weed out all the 5W and 8W stuff it'll likely pull in: Best to manually create an up-to-date AB7 (Or is it Eutelsat 7? I do wish they wouldn't bu**er about with names!) TP list.

Just delete all 7.2W TPs and start again, manually entering from Flysat (Other Listings sites are available): Doesn't take long.

Attached a couple of pictures how I route the LNB cable on my motorised installs. Just jump straight from the LNB arm to the pole with plenty of slack. This means the cable is being flexed over a reasonable length rather than the movement focusing the stress in one area.

Also I prefer the Clarke-Tech/Darkmotor style motors as the connectors are at the back of the motor rather than on the bottom, which gives much better clearance from the ends of the dish u-bolt clamps.

Don't forget 7W [...] don't Blind Scan it unless you want to weed out all the 5W and 8W stuff it'll likely pull in

That's exactly what the blindscan plugin of OpenViX for Linux receivers does. Results are amazing. So you can tell it to scan 10E, feeds only, and ignore 9E.

Shirrrley thats got to be my piss white C120 LNB, with added go faster stripes. Or maybe the dayglo red body with green cap LSD inspired LNB that some people got off fleabay years ago - that turned out to be a SMART Titanium in disguise, a real sheep in wolfs clothing.

Anyhow, its great to be up and running. The freedom of the skies at long last.

And what will the upgrade path be? Another pair of T and K brackets and a longer pole and a 1.25m on a polar mount perhaps. Loads of time to think about it.

Its meant to be fun! The older 1m dishes like my one are as thick as 3 to 4 Triax 1.1m dishes yet heavier. They are bombproof though and if you put them at the top of the Bressay Transmitter it would still be working 15 years later. You can see why the perforated 'mesh' dishes are still quite popular, the mesh 1.1m puts much less pressure on the motor in the wind that the heavier solid dishes would.

But now, the customary long drawn out wrestling match with the receiver which it will win hands down. Every time.

Not a great deal no, its an optical illusion anyway, its way off the roof.

No more dishes- got 2 up now and the wife was taken aback by this latest effort although shes fine about it.

I sweetened my Wife by installing her own system for watching Italian and French stuff (mainly) comprising an ancient Sky "Analogue" dish with a Monoblock for 13/19 and an offset LNB for 5W on a cheapo generic bracket. It also picks up a 28E feed from one of my dedicated toy dishes. There's a DisEqC switch and an A/B Cable Isolation switch in there somewhere too. Cobbled together from bits and pieces - I didn't actually want to spend any money on her!

As she is from an Italian family and speaks several European lingos (badly!) she hides away in her study watching stuff like Linea Verde (Their equivalent of Countryfile, it seems).
