My son is staying for a few days and treated us all to the cinema and we had the 3D experience with Avatar. The whole experience was throroughly enjoyable with a large dose of fantasy mixed with some adorable aliens whose world we were attempting to pillage. I liked it, it was different refreshing and very imaginative and involved a concept in the realms of being at one with the nature around you.

The evening was only spoilt by the Vue cinema's management's inability to control the temperature which ranged throughout the evening from a tropical 30 deg upon entry to a sub zero on exit and various permuations in between
 
Have you got a list of 3D cinemas that might be showing Avatar over the Christmas period ?(if only to save me looking and posting something completely incoherent in about 20 minutes - I can't feel two of my fingers after todays work).

England would be fine, I will find a chauffeur.
 
If you have an Imax near you they're likely to be showing it in 3D as well. It's one of the opening films at the Imax which opened last week up here.

How did you find the fast moving scenes in 3D? I went to see UP 3D and wish I'd gone to the normal edition. During fast moving/panning scenes there was too much bluring which you don't get in normal films.

To be absolutely honest at the beginning of the film I was quite nauseas and at first put it down to indigestion, then I realised it was the fast moving sections of the film and my difficulty in focussing during such movement. I felt a similar nausea when getting acustomed to my varifocal lenses....... takes a while for the brain to desensitise. When driving home others in the family mentioned they experience similar discomfort, I still enjoyed it though (masochist in waiting), at least I did not need a chauffer to take me and bring me back :-reindeer
 
I always try to sit NOT too close to the screen. If I have to move my head to follow the action on the screen then I'm too close and will probably end up feeling sick even if it's a normal film.
