For those of a certain age brought up on Walt Disney films, I'm sad to report that the artist Tyrus Wong, whose painting was the inspiration for the animated movie Bambi, has died aged 106.

By coincidence I was looking at an article about his early career a week ago, following a visit to friends from his original neck of the woods . Tyrus spent a mere fraction of his time with Disney, but he made a dramatic impact on the film industry for years. Yes a long life. RIP
