I won this dish of ebay for £20, bargain  Currently I have it set to 7west and getting good results. My intention is to replace my motorised 1m orbital dish so I brought a Moteck h180 motor and a Vbox, my orbital dish is on T&K brackets do you think that will be enough to support the weight of the Channel master dish?

Also I take it is the same procedure for setting up the arc, line it up to 1 west etc...?

Cheers, Lee.

Yes align up on 1West but you'll need to account for the difference between your longitude and Thor. If it's anything like the 1224 then this shouldn't be a problem. Don't forget there is no USALs.

I recommend HEAVY DUTY K&K brackets suitable for the job or something like spider brackets as the dish is heavy compared to the Orbital.

Certainly got a bargain anyhow ;)

Cheers, I have got a spare K bracket so will also use that. I will have a crack at it at the weekend and will post the results.

Jammy! I could have had a 1.8m one for free but couldn't get it transported :(

Well done though :)

Can you post a picture of the existing T&K set up so we can see?

Due to the weight / wind loading etc... positioning, spacing and fixings will be of great importance.

I have got a longer pole and a spare T bracket (not k as previously mentioned) so will move the bottom k bracket futher down and put the T bracket where the K bracket was.

Mmm, personally I'd get myself some heavy duty brackets [extra bracing] or set of spider brackets as mentioned.

Still... it hasn't far to fall ;)

Blakes UK sell a set of 18" Heavy Duty K&K Galvanised with 4" U-Bolts / SAT/8J, as may some of our satsUK site sponsors. Also take a look at s/superstore for spider type wall mounts.

Good luck..

Surely you will have to move up to at least a 3" pole and fittings for a 1.2m rather than the 2" setup you have there? A 1m dish tends to be the maximum threshold for 2" fittings.
